Strand Palace Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel was perfectly located for our trip. Rooms were nice."

Middle Eight - Covent Garden - Preferred Hotels and Resorts

10/10 Excellent

"I recently returned from London and stayed at The Middle Eight Hotel. It is in the heart of Covent Garden, close to The Apple Markets, Covent Garden Piazza and the tourist spots within Covent Garden, all within walking distance from the hotel. We arrived early on check-in day. So, our room was not ready. But, they proceeded with the check-in process any way and the Concierge stored our luggage. The Concierge in this hotel was EXCELLENT, with great advice on restaurants. We went to The Black Penny, just up the street from the hotel, for a sit down breakfast after we checked into the hotel. It was recommended by the Concierge, and it was a great place to have our first breakfast in London. Great food & vibe. I booked a Deluxe room for 3 guests. While the rooms in Europe are typically smaller than hotel rooms in the US, the room was very modern, clean and we had a street view. I did like the room's modern vibe overall. House-keeping was an issue initially on Day 2 of our visit. We didn't realize the "digital" sign on the outdoor wall adjacent to our door had to be activated to notify housekeeping we wanted them to clean the room. So, after being out all day touring on Day 2, when we returned later in the day, we found the room was not cleaned. However, it was rectified later on as housekeeping came to clean the room while we were out for dinner. Overall, I would recommend this hotel if you are going to London. It's pricey - at $500 per night, but well worth it."

Moxy London Piccadilly Circus

8/10 Good

"This is the fourth Moxy we stayed at in the last 4 weeks. This was not the best. The location is unbeatable, but other areas were a let down. In the other Moxy hotels we could phone and speak with a live agent easily: not once was a call to reception answered. Our room was not cleaned during our 2 night stay despite us going to reception and asking for the clean. On the Sunday morning, only 1 of 4 lifts was working. This was a nightmare and people were leaving around 11 am with large suitcases so space was at a premium in the solo working lift. Not a good look at all"

The Hoxton, Holborn

8/10 Good

"We had a good stay at The Hoxton, Holborn, although overall nothing particularly stood out as exceptional, apart from the breakfast, which we paid extra for and thoroughly enjoyed. The location is great, just a short walk from Holborn tube station, making it really convenient for getting around London. The downstairs lobby is trendy, welcoming and well maintained, creating a lovely first impression. The room itself was comfortable enough, and the bed was lovely to sleep in. We also appreciated the large glass bottles of water provided in the fridge, which were a nice touch. However, the room had a musty smell and didn’t feel particularly clean or fresh. It was also starting to show signs of wear and tear, and the lack of plug sockets in practical locations was a little frustrating. There was quite a contrast between the stylish downstairs areas and the corridors leading to the rooms, which felt dark and rather dingy. Overall, everything was generally okay or good, but very little exceeded our expectations. It’s a decent hotel in a convenient location, but the rooms could benefit from some attention to bring them up to the standard of the communal areas."
