"Beach in the area by motel was messy. Could not walk on beach the smell was terrible from a dead seal. Not sure if the city doesn’t clean up once in a while, but we were disappointed with the general area."

"The lobby of the hotel is very nice with a decent restaurant and bar. The location is excellent as it's right in the heart of downtown Monterey and a short walk to Cannery Row. My biggest complaint is that the beds and the pillows are not very good."

"Being unfamiliar with the Pismo Beach area, I picked the wrong place for what I wanted to experience there. I was looking for easy beach access, this hotel was on a bluff, I had wanted to hear waves crashing and instead I heard the highway traffic. I didn't see any close places for breakfast in the morning and we we were told that the restaurant at Spyglass was closed. Therefore we didn't spend much time at our almost $500 room, we went downtown and ate, shopped, and walked the beach. That's where I will book a room next time."
