"We were very pleased with the Old Barn and it is one of the best holiday cottages we have stayed in. It was well equipped and included things that we usually have to bring with us when staying away, such as washing up liquid, cloths, tea towels, soap, salt and pepper. The hosts provided a pint of milk on arrival, with tea, coffee and sugar and some homemade bara breth which was lovely. "Zoe on reception was amazing nothing was too much trouble, I’d phoned prior to going to the hotel with a query and she dealt with it straight away. Also the young guy and another gentleman were really helpful when our tv wasn’t working, they promptly sorted another room for us, which was more spacious. Loved our stay will definitely be back."

"Beautiful hotel. I wanted to give 5 stars for staff as the receptionists welcome was lovely. I was helped with my bag to my room. The spa team really professional and informative. Both doorman I encountered advised on the weather for the day and short cuts for where I needed to go in the city. I even received a compliment on my outfit which was super sweet. Sadly I only gave 4 stars for staff. All but one member of staff were super friendly, helpful and professional. The team were let down by one person who ignored my presence on purpose when I sat in his area in the lounge. He was chatting to colleagues who were working the bar so was not busy. I gave this person 15 minutes to bother themselves to serve me but had to ask a passing waiter. Who apologised for his colleague, explained he would have approached sooner but he was looking after a different area. This pleasant young man got me a drinks menu, recommended a cocktail and brought me my drink efficiently-he got the tip. The lazy waiter meanwhile remained at the bar chatting (I got the impression he didn't wish to serve me as he wanted to finish his shift). Oh well I'm sure management will spot this member of the team that clearly is in the wrong job."

"I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It was a full sized hotel, as opposed to the guesthouse type of accommodations I had last year when I visited Chester. The walk from the train station was fairly short, although if you're carrying a heavy suitcase, you'd probably be better off getting a ride. There is a supermarket next door that had many options for snacks and beverages, but the restaurant situation was a bit challenging, as most of them were about 1km walk west of the hotel. The room itself was big, clean, and even had AC, which is hard to find in the cheaper hotels. And that was the best part - the price was decent for this place, as Chester is quite pricey."
