"I had a lovely stay at this hotel. The bedroom was lovely and very comfortable, and that spa facilities provided the perfect way to relax. The food was excellent and the staff were all lovely and made us feel so welcome. "

"In the national peak district park Buxton is lovely. Room was OK but decor starting to look a bit dated. Stayed here many times before but I think the new owners are neglecting it in favour of their new hotel on the crescent round the corner. Breakfast used to be table served cooked fresh and served by lovely elderly waitresses, but is now just a hot buffet style and the staff look as though they do not care about the guests. Strict about 11am checkout too. Would still stay here again though because this hotel has character."

"Whilst this once nust have been a high prestige hotel to stay at, it's decay is obvious. The wind howls through the corridors and rooms permanently as the floors are uneven and the windows are wonky, creating a permanent draft. I specifically chose this place because it stated it had a gym, but upon arrival I learned that more than 60% of it was closed because of water damage, with buckets on the floor all over, an evil stink of humidity as water was dripping from the ceiling. Ridiculous they still informed me they also charge 6£ for a day pass, despite only some weights and a bike and pool/titsy tiny sauna were accessible. Why did they not inform me? I would've cancelled my booking and stay at the Leewood, which is fab and has a functioning clean gym. I'm really annoyed and tempted to ask money back. There's no room service during the stay unless one explicitly asks for it. Flaky wifi also, making it a fail for my business trip. Total disappointment! I'll discourage anyone from staying there. "

"The hotel.was ideally situated to explore Buxton. The area where the hotel was is lovely and quiet. The hotel itself is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We only stayed for 1 night which usually means you get a small room but the room was a good size. The floorboards outside in the corridors are very creaky which kept us awake at times and had we stayed longer it would have disturbed our sleep but other than that I would definitely stay here again."

"Some points of action for the ownersMust spell out entry is at first floor level, living area and kitchen plus two bedrooms located lower floor - not ideal for elderly couple within our group Cinema projector and tv in lounge need to be able to work independently - at present both show same programmePool superb but pool plant very noisy to adjacent ground floor bedroom through the night, suggest better insulation On initial view looks clean but could do with a good deep clean - cobwebs covered in dust - under beds dusty needed a clean, great location would use again but maybe without great grand parents"

"Great host, room spotless. Breakfast vegetarian and vegan, fantastic choice. My daughter who is dairy intolerant was delighted with choice that she had. Enjoyed the dolls dotted around. Most impressed with Spanish Armada tea pot!"
