"I have stayed at this hotel over 5 times under 2 different owners. The spa is always impressive however Champneys now charge extra for residents’ access per day. This results in a stampede at 3pm for guests wanting to (rightly) get their money’s worth. It really detracts from the ability to relax. The spa bar area could do with a little TLC: walls marked; carpets covered in crumbs; cobwebs on the ceiling alcoves; plastic champagne flutes!!! The bed was comfortable and the bedroom spacious....

"Booked three rooms for my family as we came for a weekend to attend a family wedding in the vicinity. Other family members joined us for dinner on Friday night, which we all really enjoyed, with an interesting wine menu and some lovely wines. The staff and hospitality were fantastic. In this old pub, the rooms and accommodation are very well finished and have a modern feel and efficiency. Breakfast was full of locally sourced ingredients and well cooked and presented."

"Great cottage that didn’t get too hot during the summer heat wave as it was the ground floor of a multi story property. Kitchen had everything we needed to cook our own meals. Shower was especially nice. The driveway was a lot steeper and hard to turn into the parking space than we expected. We could have used the car park next to the property but then we would have had to pay during the day. I believe overnight parking was free. There were some parking spaces at the bottom of the driveway, but they were in use during our stay. Lots of shops and cafes nearby and the train station was about a 5 minute walk from the property. Garden area was lovely and a very quiet and private place to cool off in the evening after walking near the river. I enjoyed the location of the property as there were many day trips and places to see within a short driving distance. Manchester airport was about a 35 minute drive. I would stay here again."

"Had an amazing week at Cracken Cottage for the New Year, with family. The cottage was spacious and comfortable and lovely and warm and cosy. All of the bedrooms were a great size and very well presented. The lounge was a great area for relaxing there was lots of space for everyone. The Cracken Bar downstairs was a lovely place for food/drinks and Dale and all the staff very friendly and helpful - highly recommended. Fab that the dogs were welcome FOC too.A great base to explore the area with so much to offer. Overall very impressed and would love to stay again!"
