Very relaxing, and comfortable
The bach is clean, comfortable, it has all we needed and an escape from the grind of city life. There are great walks from the bach with local history. The museum is worth a visit.

Perfect
The communication with the owner was fast and let us check in abit earlier as our time management sucked haha but cottage was such a perfect little place. It had a portacot we could use for our babie had all utensils and only need to provide our food and linen. The river in the back was an awesome part of the stay. Location is nice and close to the museum and not far from town to stock up on tthe food. Such a nice stay would highly recommend and would definitely rebook. Wish could have stayed longer

Fantastic place- highly recommend!
House was very clean, radio playing on arrival was a lovely touch. The property has two nice decks depending on where the sun is. House is a decent size with one bedroom even having a portacot in it. River is at the end of the property and requires a little scramble down the bank (steps are wearing away) but was a great place to swim on a hot day. Lots of sandflies as usual on the Coast but surprisingly much less aggressive than other places. Great walks across the road and good food in town. Overall a great host and a great stay!

Another visit to lovely Reefton and our favourite bookabach. So lovely to be again even if cut short by car troubles. So nice to see our host again and learn a bit about his pottery.

The cottage is comfortable and equiped well for a self catering break in Reefton. The owner responded quickly when the heat pump wouldn’t work. However, with no wifi available at this cottage we were relying on our mobile phones, unfortunately it doesn’t get any signal. So if you want to get away from modern technology this is the place for you.

Is what it is
A batch in the bush, in the mountains. Price is great, area is fantastic, the batch was great. River in the backyard. Visit the museum if you can, well worth it. You get a personal tour and explanation of the history and a view of a working quartz crushing machine. Close to Reefton and shops. Internet is a challenge, I used my phone to hot spot the family and put it up as high as i can in the lounge to make it work. Finding the batch can be tricky first time, hard left, road runs parallel with highway and is next to it.

Right on the river
This truly lived up to it's name as a charming cottage backing onto the river. Black's Point is a picturesque little village nestled in a valley just outside of Reefton and we had a nice time wandering around and visiting the Museum across the road. We visited in autumn and the heat pump quickly warmed the living areas of the house up. The bathroom remained chilly - but this is an old cottage, so that is expected. We would have loved some soft, cozy blankets to use while watching TV in the evenings. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here.

No wifi or cell reception and not mentioned in the listing. Not prominent either that guests need to bring their own linen. No response from owner when we left without staying due to lack of wifi and cell. Ridiculous, really.

Overall an okay stay for a weekend getaway. Using the address in Google maps to find the place was not accurate, and it hasn’t got a house number. (and no we didn’t read the lengthy blurb about directions) whoops. The Bach has rustic charm indicative of the era and area. Make sure you take insect repellent and fly spray! We felt the place lacked some basic amenities, such as hand wash or salt and pepper in case you wanted to cook. In fact it’s best you take just about everything with you. Beds are firm. The CD collection was a nice touch though, and TV was a good option for a rainy afternoon.

This cottage is in a very pleasant spot and it has good outdoor sitting spaces. The interior is comfortable and heated by a very efficient heat pump, which we appreciated in the cooler weather we experienced. The quietly congenial host lives next door. We would like to return sometime.

Great hosts very accommodating, interesting building
Wasn't 100% sure we checked in to the correct house at first (there are 3 batches there), we had to go off the photo from different weather and found there was an extra bedroom inside!? The place was decent, good size, interesting old building with additions and unique facilities. Pretty much everything we needed was there, except for a knife to slice our tomatoes. We forgot our linen and the hosts were very kind and generous. I would recommend this place if you want no hassles. Cell phone reception was fairly bad/intermittent which may be a good thing if you want a break from technology.

Enhance your stay
Great location and price, well equiped kitchen. Warm with lots of covered outdoor space should it rain. Make sure to take sturdy shoes if you venture on a hike. A must do is a visit to the Reefton information centre, to enhance your understanding of the town

Cosy Anzac Getaway
We had a nice long weekend at this cottage over Anzac weekend exploring our Reefton family history. Wonderful to arrive on the Friday night to a nice, clean and tidy cottage with everything we needed. The nights were cold so having a decent heat pump to keep us cosy was great. Always had prompt communication from the owner. Also check out the nearby Blackwater museum where the staff are very knowledgeable.

Beautiful Break in Blacks Point
It was lovely to arrive and have the heat pump going and to for it to be warm and inviting. It was ,as stated a 'charming', comfortable space. There were only two of us but I could envisge staying there with a larger group easily. Lovely walks nearby and we thoroughly enjoyed the Museum. Beautiful outlook to the bush and the river at the bottom of the garden. The bed was warm and comfy. We were abit disappointed that the washing machine was unavailable as we'd have liked to use it. Would have been very easy to self cater and good entertainment options for wet days/ evenings. We were glad we'd read the other reviews and were warned to bring linen. This is a bit of a hassle and extra weight when you are flying as we were.

Cute little cottage in Blacks point, a short drive from Reefton. Warm and comfortable,when we arrived in the rain. Amazing to have a river in you backyard, will be back with my family in summer.ive a couple of fishing of mad boys!would recommend this cottage.thanks Chris😉

Enjoyed a Comfortable stay. Would have been better to have had all linen supplied( and pay more ) too difficult to travel with linen and towels for 4 people for one night stay on a weeks trip.Very impressive swimming hole practically in the back yard !

This is a delightful old but clean cottage. The surroundings were peaceful, It was a relaxing and pleasant stop on our 5 week travels. Only problem was that we had no linen with us but was clearly indicated in the advertising. We managed :)

False advertising on Bookabach site
The bach was great along with location etc. but your ad stated there was free cancellation if required and a total cost for the period we required the pty. The next email we got the price was now 30% more and we would be unable to cancel> This probably is the last time I use a Bookabach booking.
