Bali Zoo has carefully recreated the habitats of over 350 animals. They are all cared for by a dedicated and enthusiastic team of keepers and staff. This delightful, small zoo offers the chance to interact with the animals in a relaxed yet safe environment. The zoo is home to an array of exotic animals like big cats (including the Binturong or Asian Bearcat). There are deer, sun bears, orang-utans, camels and crocodiles, all of which you can feed. There is also an impressive selection of snakes and an exotic bird show. The zoo also offers different elephant rides through the jungle. These range from the 30-minute Elephant Back Safari, which doesn’t include zoo admission to the 75-minute Elephant Expedition which includes lunch or afternoon tea. A tree walk allows you to get closer to the jungle canopy where you can hear gibbons and birds calling out just above you. For a quick but exhilarating journey back down, you could always use the zip wire! Although don’t forget to take in the giant spider climbing net. For a different but equally fascinating experience, there is a village trekking tour that offers a true insight into Balinese culture and village life. Learn about the traditional irrigation systems or Subak while gazing out over ancient rice terraces. The village is also home to the Gunang Temple and various art galleries. Further in depth learning is on offer through a guided tour of the park. This is in addition to the zoo’s own special programmes such as spending the day working as a Mahout (elephant keeper), or spending the night with the animals in their nocturnal environment. There is also opportunity to have your photo taken with a python or tiger cub before grabbing a ‘zoovenir’ from the gift shop. There are two restaurants at the zoo. Take high tea at the Okavango Restaurant or sample the buffet in the Elephant View Restaurant. Located in Singapadu Village, Bali Zoo is around 15 minutes away from Ubud or 20 minutes away from Denpasar, by car. Admission fees vary according to the programmes you choose. Open every day except for Nyepi Day – Hindu New Year, which falls in March.

Reviews of Bali Zoo
3/5 - Okay
last there 2 years ago when parts of the Zoo were still being developed. Breakfast was fun
4/5 - Good
Loved this and would return, looking forward to seeing the huge development that was under construction
5/5 - Excellent
Excellent zoo, specially the deer that roam around and you can hand feed.
5/5 - Excellent
Went to the orangutan breakfast and elephant mud farm which were both excellent. However mud farm photos were ridiculously expensive, then realised why their photographers followed us at every activity. We were invited to have a drink at the mud pool with no mention of payment and therefore assumed that this was included in the high attraction rate ($200 each with transport from our hotel). However we had to pay for this on the way out (which we wouldn’t have minded if we knew it wasn’t gratis in the first place). Others seemed to avoid this and we wondered if we were singled out because we didn’t want to pay $45 for one picture of us with the animals). We did give this feedback to the Bali Zoo rep. When asked.
5/5 - Excellent
Fantastic for kids and adults! They're expanding the zoo big time. Really recommend it.
