Seminyak village is known as the place to go for the best fashion boutiques in the region, and Seminyak Square on Jalan Kayu Aya is one of the best arcades. This elegant, modern complex houses both Indonesian and international retailers, as well as many cafés and restaurants, so you can easily spend a few hours here searching out the perfect outfit or exquisite souvenir.
The shops and cafés are set out over two floors, surrounding a central courtyard space. You’ll find everything from swimwear and surfing accessories to sarongs and kaftans made from traditional batik printed cloth, as well as jewellery, furniture and English-language books. Additional retailers set up on outdoor stalls at the weekend, and live music adds to the atmosphere.
Stop off at one of the cafés and bakeries for light snacks, pastries and coffee. Choose to sit in, or head to the benches and tables available in the courtyard. You can catch up with your emails or update your blog, thanks to the free Wi-Fi available to all of the square’s visitors.
For a more substantial meal, you have the option of both traditional Indonesian dishes and Mediterranean cuisine, served at the restaurant’s roof-top garden terrace. Additional dining options can be found in the recently-opened Seminyak Square Hotel, right next to the arcade.
Once you’ve toured the boutiques, sooth tired feet and aching legs with a pampering treatment at one of Seminyak’s many luxurious spas: it is not known as Bali’s spa capital for nothing! Refreshed and revitalised, get dressed up in your latest purchases and make your way down to the beach. Take a seat at one of the elegant ocean-front bars, and enjoy the spectacular Balinese sunset, whilst sipping a delicious cocktail.
Seminyak Square is located in the heart of Seminyak village. It is approximately 30 minutes by car from Denpasar Airport, and free parking is available on site. Opening times vary from boutique to boutique, but the arcade itself is open from 8 am to 11 pm.
