"The White Hart is a very comfortable fusion of "olde worlde" with modern comforts. Yes, it has a lot of low beams in the bar area, traditional ales on tap and even a well in the reception area. No, it doesn't have sawdust on the floor, and spitoons in the corners (thank goodness). You will have a very warm welcome from all the staff, a choice of two restaurant areas serving locally sourced produce cooked very well. The menu might be limited by some standards but the variety should cater for most tastes. Prices seem typical for what's on offer, and the portions are generous. As to wine choices, popular styles are available by the glass, less well known varietals by the bottle. Breakfasts were delicious - full English had outstanding quality items. I hate neon pink sausage and scrambled egg that you can bounce off the floor. No worries of that here! Our room was clean and spacious, and the decor was fresh and what might be called "memorable". The bathroom was outstanding - maybe the best of any establishment I've stayed in! Would we return? Most definitely. Thanks to all the staff who looked after us so well."

"Really beautiful old hotel. We stayed in room 22. Second floor. There is no lift here. Not much of a view just roof but it kept the hot sun out. Comfy bed, lovely bathroom. Not much in the way of milk etc but there is a cupboard in the foyer for extras. No housekeeping in the 3 nights but again you can e.mail for more towels. Fan was pathetic, luckily having read reviews I brought my own. TV , iPod dock and WiFi. No on site staff but actually we were able to speak to two people. Self check in. Car park is first come first served and the huge planter in the drive looks lovely but takes up too much room. A stones throw is the town centre and bars etc and a short stroll to the river. Loved it would definitely stay here again."

"The stay included a free breakfast, which was good. A fair amount of options. Wish the room had a mini fridge to keep our drinks cold, but there was no option available. The location was very close to a bus stop which made it easy to get around. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room was a little tight for the three of us, but it worked ok."

"Definitely not a summer property. We upgraded our room for a bigger bed which included a mini fridge and espresso maker. That being said we faced the road and the room was HOT! No AC so windows open with a very average floor fan. The road noise wasn’t horrific but it was there even at 4 am. Nice shower, wardrobe. I’d book again if I was traveling in April or May."
