"The host Gwen was very friendly and helpful. Let us do an early check-in as we had a wedding to go to. The unit was fresh, clean and tidy. Bigger than what we had thought it would be, so that was a plus. Location was perfect with everything just down the road. "Such an amazing little cottage with everything you need. The sound of the waves crashing was so good. So much to admire inside the house. Modern bathroom and kitchen, comfortable bed with nice linen. A great courtyard and a fire pit. Off street parking. Supermarket, coffee, bar and fish and chips across the road. Highly recommended."

"I must say the view was just awesome and calming. We noticed that we were in complete silence and we live rural so it was pleasantly bizzare that it was quieter than home. Easy access and enjoyed the beach walks which was 5 min walk."

"The location across road from ocean was breathtaking, especially at sunrise and also sunset. Take it in from chairs on front patio or walk across to rocky seashore. Lots of photos to fill your reel. One of a kind feeling to this place with many personal touches by the owners, including artwork throughout home and carefully curated gardens — just like the photos. "We were in Napier for our daughter’s wedding. There was myself and my husband, my oldest son, his partner and under 2 year old from Queensland and my youngest son from New York. The house was fabulous and worked really well for us all as plenty of space, clean and in a great location, close to the waterfront and where our daughter and family were staying. "We had a fantastic weekend. Communication beforehand was very good and everthing was as described. The kids loved the beach and the tennis courts. No Tv or internet required! Unfortunately, the sun disappears after the hill early afternoon at this time of the year, so we didn't sit outside a lot. Otherwise, we had a perfect stay."

"We loved staying at Pohutukawa cottage. The garden was lovely for an Easter egg hunt, and the kids loved being able to run around. Also loved the stack of firewood as the weather was fairly cold the first couple of evenings. Highly recommended for families - can walk to the ocean and the cycle trails go past the front door (plus you can rent bikes from round the corner if the ones if the shed arae not to your style). All round great stay."

"Our family of five loved this house! It's central looking out over Hawke's Bay and a short walk to Napier centre. Compact but good-sized bedrooms/living space and plenty of free parking. Nicely done up, while also keeping the area's Deco character. Highly recommended, will stay again."

"We barely arrived when my teen was exclaiming, "this is the best holiday home we've ever been to". And it is. A lovely home with all the usual amenities, plus a porch and giant backyard. The kids absolutely loved running free. And the ocean is just across the road. We had a great week and really enjoyed exploring the area."

"Hotel was totally refurbished when we arrived and felt like new. New washer/dryer and Nespresso machine felt like it was a home from home. Would definitely recommend and the person on the main desk was very charming and chatty. "

We wish the current owners the best on where ever their road takes them, but look forward to new owners making their mark and starting a new chapter for this little oasis."
