we needed a very short term place to sleep for one night. our room was very clean and the beds were clean and comfortable. breakfast was an array of carbs and some very nice apples and bananas, very good coffee too. i would recommend if you need to be near skokie and want to pay half of what other places charge.
My original lodging plans were busted when I discovered that the Admiral Oasis had closed. It had been adjacent to a Metra Express stop. This Super 8, while not on a commuter train line to the city, provides access to even more convenient transportation options. The Pace Bus, five blocks south on Waukegan, provides connections to the city, via Yellow and Red lines, in one direction, and connections to O'Hare in the other. Hours and direction of travel aren't as constricted as with Metra Commuter travel. I found the availability of card activated vending machines at the hotel perfect for providing myself with after hours goodies while preserving my bills for bus and train travel purchases. Besides delicious free options for breakfast, free paper, in-room coffee, hair dryer, ironing board & iron, Wi-Fi, everything you'd find in standard motel lodging... The mini-fridge was just what I needed to re-freeze my cooling pack and keep my insulin cool. I did need to turn the cooling up in order to make it freeze my pack. Staff was courteous and available in filling my requests for help accessing the WiFi network and replacing the coffee pods/filters which had been cut open in manufacture. My only complaint is that the night clerk who checked me in gave me incorrect directions to the Yellow Line. If I hadn't stumbled upon a fellow guest who had researched the public transit options for himself, (at the free breakfast,) I would have been seriously inconvenienced.
