"Great place to stay - just as advertised. While not fancy or luxurious, it is very nice, comfortable and clean and in a spectacular location. Having morning coffee on lanai overlooking the ocean cannot be beat. Probably the best stocked kitchen in rental that we have ever had. Saul is an attentive (in a very good way) host. He provides great welcoming touches, including a bottle of wine and fresh cut flowers."

"Unbelievable access to the wonderful Hilo beach parks all within a mile or 2. We were up and across the street to Richardson Beach Park everyday to see the turtles and the black sand beach in the afternoon. Richard’s house was so comfortable and had everything we needed for the beach and in the house. Loved the tropical views from all the windows and it was so quiet at night (except for the birds and the rain, which were wonderful to hear). Definitely coming back if I am lucky enough to ever...

"We loved the location of this property. Walking across the street to snorkel at Richardson was wonderful. We enjoyed the ocean breezes inside and also spent time outside on the deck with its great view of the ocean. The two cats were welcome (outside!). One night they received a treat of leftover Ono fish from the Hilo Bay Cafe. We now have cat friends for life!"

"The hotel reminded me of a Motel 6. The staff is excellent and very friendly, Had the most comfortable bed I've ever had at a hotel. Slept really well. Was a couple minutes from the airport and close to plenty of parks and places to eat. Would recommend getting a rental car so you can enjoy the whole island. Can pretty much see everywhere within a couple hours from the hotel. Really easy to get around. Would stay here again if I ever come back to the island. The only negative is all the...

"The hotel staff was helpful and friendly, but the restaurant staff were not very nice and food service was very poor. The breakfast was a joke where there was no food most of the time. The service at the restaurant took over an hour. "

"There is nothing wrong with the property. It is a slightly bit dated, but it is a great place to stay. I have stayed here for both business and leisure. The location is good however, it is surrounded by other run down locations. I assume big storms have ravaged this location. Overall, I will continue to stay here while on the Hilo side of the Big Island. There is a smell of mold on the building entry passageway from storms impacting the carpet.
