Favoured for its shops, restaurants and museums, this diverse cultural precinct is known as a “world bazaar on the waterfront”.

At the southern end of the Kowloon peninsula you’ll find one of the most prosperous regions of Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui. The entertainment precinct is studded with lavish shopping boulevards, five-star hotels and office towers that loom high above the streets. The area is known to a community of expats as simply TST.

Browse the long stretches of luxury brands’ flagship stores, marketplaces and independent retailers that call Tsim Sha Tsui home. Walk along Nathan Road, often referred to as the “Golden Mile” to see tailors, restaurateurs and jewellers trying to gain your attention. Their competition is the big brands and discount electronics that line much of the street. Visit one of the many shopping centres nearby such as The One, where you can escape Hong Kong’s steamy weather in air-conditioning.

Make the short trip to Canton Road to find designer labels such as Chanel and one of the largest Louis Vuitton stores in Asia. This strip is great for those who love high fashion. It’s located right alongside the gigantic Harbour City, the largest shopping centre in Hong Kong. With more than 450 stores you’ll need to put aside a few hours to see everything.

Walk east to find the waterfront dining precinct. Rest your feet as you sip on a cocktail or settle down for lunch with views of the Victoria Harbour.

Explore the nearby Tsim Sha Tsui Promenade. The strip features a colonial-era clock tower and is known for having some of the best views in the city.

Tsim Sha Tsui is conveniently located near many of Hong Kong’s museums and cultural sites, including the Hong Kong Space Museum and the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Even if shopping isn’t your thing it’s worth making the short detour to see the precinct for yourself. The Star Ferry will take you straight to the area from Hong Kong Island, while the Tsim Sha Tsui train station is also convenient.
