Excellent staff and perfect location. But this is the most overpriced hotel I have ever stayed at. Rooms are very poorly designed as is most of the hotel. There is nothing there to justify a price of around $700 per night in off season in February.

Everything about the Widder is absolutely wonderful: location, comfort, stye. service, food! Gorgeous property with super comfortable, modern and beautifully appointed rooms with gorgeous decor that reflects the vintage nature of the building and the contemporary boutique hotel setting. Great bathroom with awesome shower. Comfortable bed -- they have a pillow menu! Every staff member we met was very personable and couldn't do enough for us. I highly recommend the Widder for a truly luxurious experience!!

A Most Beautiful Stay
The Widder Hotel is so much more than a luxury boutique hotel. The location is incredible and there is so much at your fingertips as soon as you step out of the door (as well as if you don't leave the property at all - Widder Bar is a must!). Personally, I am blown away by the rich history of the 700 years old buildings themselves and how they were so thoughtfully entwined when creating this incredibly chic hotel. The staff is so lovely, warm and kind. Staying at the Widder was such a beautiful ending to our time in Switzerland. I can't wait to return one day!

Superb stay!
Stunning hotel in a great part of the city. The hotel was spotless, everything from the room to the smell in the reception and common areas. The breakfast was fantastic and in all aspects the service was super friendly and nothing was too much of an ask!

Accidentally booked two reservations and the hotel refused to cancel one so we ended up paying twice. There is a warren of hallways and stairs and elevators to get to the room - we got lost twice. No alcohol in mini bar. Furnishings in room were oddly placed, didn't match decor, and badly needed replacing/updating. Poor service/no accountability. For this price stay at Baur au Lac or Kindli. This hotel has gone way downhill since I used to stay there 15 years ago. AVOID.

Dear K. It is with great regret that we read your message. Your frustration about the accidentally booked rooms does not go unnoticed and we do understand of course. Nevertheless let us maybe quickly recap the situation: You had booked two rooms, one arrival December 26-28 and one December 27-28. You did not arrive on the 26, but then on the 27th, upon your arrival, you only needed one room, and you explained because you had been travelling a lot and you did not notice the mistake. We fully understand and we did charge you for only ONE additional room night instead of two (you had booked 3 room nights, stayed only 1 and we charged for 2 instead of the 3 we could have according to our policy). Since you had been at the hotel in previous years you must have been aware that we are built out of 9 buildings and hence yes, we do have a lot of staircases, most guests enjoy this charm and we are sorry you found it inconvenient. Our historic rooms were always a combination of the old and new, the junior suite you stayed in is one of the highly demanded rooms, again we do apologize for not having met your tastes. As far as the minibar is concerned, it is included in our room rate, and we offer beer but no spirits. Our very well appointed Widder Bar on the other had, with over 1200 spirits, offers a wide range of alcohol. Again, we are sorry this experience was not as you had expected and hope to have a chance to maybe welcome you on another occasion under better circumstances. With kind regards Your Widder Team

This hotel is amazing - absolutely stunning. They’ve created a masterpiece by combining 9 medieval townhouses and transforming them into a luxury hotel. The result is unbelievable. The staff is wonderful - accommodating, friendly and there for your every need. A stay at The Widder is a must.

I have stayed at the Widder many times and always find it to be a special place to stay. The service is excellent - friendly and exceptionally helpful. I also like the unique features of the building with its combination of old and modern that works so well. It really is an individual hotel with no two rooms the same although they are all very well furnished and equipped. A further feature is that the hotel is situated in a central yet quiet position just off the Bahnhofstrasse and just a short walk from the Hauptbahnhof and a pleasant stroll to the old city or to the lake.
