Strap yourself into a carriage proudly bearing the Stars and Stripes to experience the zero gravity rolls and corkscrews of Americana’s Patriot ride, then whizz along the Autobahn in your own brightly painted bumper car, before taking the ultimate leap of faith in the Finnish Fling or coming face to face with the terrifying Spinning Dragons of The Orient.There are height restrictions on most of the high-intensity rides, but many others are suitable for smaller children accompanied by adults – just ask at the ride entrance. Very young children and those who prefer gentler entertainment will love Planet Snoopy, where they can have their fair share of fun without the fear factor!Worlds of Fun has recently amalgamated with the neighbouring Oceans of Fun to form one of the state’s largest amusement complexes. Oceans of Fun, which features a variety of themed pools and water slides, is the perfect place to cool your pulse after the adrenalin rush of the roller coasters. Before you leave, treat yourself to a snack or a more substantial meal in one of the cafés or restaurants dotted around the park.Worlds of Fun is around 15 minutes’ drive north-east of Kansas City, close to the Missouri river. The park is open seasonally from April to November, but opening hours and days vary according to time of year, so check the website before setting out. Pay parking is available on-site.
