It was fine but when I arrived at 12:15 with my luggage and rang the bell no one answered so I couldn’t get in out of the snow and had to find a nearby shop to call from. It was stressful wondering if it was even operating as the sign was missing some letters. Then I could check in early for an additional fee so in all not worth the value. I didn’t like having showers and sinks in a common area but my bed was comfortable enough. It just isn’t in the best area so I didn’t feel safe walking around the neighborhood on my own.

My stay at The Parkdale Hostellerie was overall satisfactory considering the budget-friendly accommodation and shared bathrooms, as expected for a hostel. However, the cleanliness fell short of expectations, with noticeably grimy bathrooms and a dusty room. The affordability of the room somewhat compensates for these drawbacks, but improvements in cleanliness would greatly enhance the overall experience.

My guest and I stayed there and we paid a good amount of money to stay but they turn off their internet between 10:30pm - 11:30pm which was annoying. We even had to ask staff to keep the main door to go to our room closed because the main light in the common area would shine through my room window an if your sleeping the light would be hitting your eyes which was annoying some staff understood but a lot of other staff were making it an issue. Only good thing is the area around the building and they kept the bathrooms and kitchen cleaned. You will have to share the bathrooms and kitchen with other travellers.

We rented an apartment style unit. This ended up being in a different location 11 minutes drive away on Queen Street. This wasn’t a big deal, but a heads up would have been helpful. Decent for what you get and would likely stay again, but don't expect anything fancy.

Horrible experience. The place looks nothing like the picture in the Expedia web site. Looks like a shelter. Worth place ever. Don’t go there. It is not safe to stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE. From the beginning this was a mess. Customer service was non existent. No one picks up the phone, we rang the doorbell 10 times and no one let us in, and they were just generally unhelpful. We booked an “private apartment” room for one night. Nowhere on the listing did it say that it was a 10 minute drive away from the address of the actual hostel. We didn’t find out until we got to the front desk. They also didn't help us with the parking situation whatsoever (no recommendations, no nearby parking garages). Once we managed to get to the apartment, it was FILTHY. The floors were sticky, the garbage wasn't changed from the last guest, there were bugs in the bathroom. I guarantee they hadn't cleaned it whatsoever before we got there. The sleeping arrangements were barely passable, not enough bedding was provided. There were also only 2 towels for 4 guests. We noticed that the extra toilet paper roll in the bathroom was waterdamaged and covered in filth. COBWEBS. DIRT. EVERYWHERE. The price was also WAY too high for what we got. It looked nothing like the pictures in the listing. FALSE ADVERTISING. As women we did not feel safe there. The main lock on the door was broken and all that was keeping us safe was the code lock, which anyone could find out. I highly recommend you look for other accommodations.

Clearly it is an old apartment. The floor in the room was flaky. For sure it has been flooded and they installed a floating floor over moisted plywood.

Great hostel! Convenient location on West Queen St W, with direct access to the streetcar that takes you downtown. Very friendly staff. I got a free upgrade to a private room because my bed was being fixed by the maintenance guy.

Fire alarm at midnight. Although there was no fire, it greatly reduced the sense of security. After that the staff didn't explain and made compensation for the impact of the accidental fire alarm on the guests.

Hello. The fire alarm was activated by a guest, without any fire hazard occurring at the moment it was activated. We still had to attach to our protocol when a fire alarm is activated, which is the evacuation of our guests. We understand your concern, however, our top priority is to ensure our guests' safety. I was residing in the dormitories and it really isn't a place anyone who is picky should stay. The state of my bedroom/bathroom/living room was worse than what the pictures are showing Cons: - The mattresses are totally finished - Only had a small blanket, there are bigger ones in a wardrobe but I can't guarantee if they are clean - Most of the public toilet seats are broken - Half of the toilet were out of toilet paper - Looks like there's a bit of fungus in the batrooms though I would say not critical Pros: - Despite all of this I would probably go back given the price that is way lower than anything else in Toronto
