The best area to stay in Tonno is the historic Old Town (Centro Storico) or the Lungomare area, which runs along the seafront.

The Old Town is the heart of Tonno, characterized by its narrow, cobbled streets, colourful buildings, and charming piazzas. You'll find many independent shops, traditional trattorias, and local bars tucked away in its alleys. The main square, Piazza Garibaldi, is a focal point and a great spot for people-watching. It's a pedestrian-friendly area, offering a truly authentic Ligurian experience. This area is particularly well-suited for couples seeking a romantic and atmospheric stay, with plenty of intimate dining options and picturesque strolls.

The Lungomare area offers direct access to Tonno's beautiful beaches and the sparkling Ligurian Sea. This promenade is lined with hotels, seafood restaurants, and gelaterias, making it a convenient and enjoyable place to stay. It's great for families, as the beaches are easily kid-friendly, and there are often playgrounds and open spaces along the seafront. Many hotels here offer rooms with sea views and amenities like swimming pools, providing a relaxing base for a family holiday.

The best time to visit Tonno is during the shoulder seasons of May, early June, September, and early October.

During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm and sunny, superb for exploring the Ligurian coastline and enjoying outdoor activities without the intense heat and larger crowds of the peak summer months. You'll find that many restaurants and shops are fully open, offering the complete Tonno experience.

For those planning a romantic getaway, May and September are particularly appealing. The sea is warm enough for swimming, and the softer light during these times makes for beautiful coastal walks and al fresco dining experiences. You can enjoy the charm of Tonno's old town and its scenic harbour at a more relaxed pace.

Families travelling with children will also appreciate the shoulder seasons. The beaches are less crowded, making it easier to find a spot to relax, and the milder temperatures are more comfortable for children.
