"Great location by a river, overlooking the water meadows to Salisbury Cathedral. No lift, but staff showed us to our room and helped with luggage. The hotel runs a useful free minibus into the centre each evening, to enable easy access to local restaurants. Pleasant bar and terrace. A lovely short break."

"Booked and paid last year for room with king bed. Didnt get that. No explanation why from staff. Room was in old part with no ventilation and double bed that needed to be replaced years ago. Pillows were terrible. Floors created and shower water got stuck on scalding and needed to be fixed. All over very disappointing stay. "

"Great location and very friendly and helpful staff. Parking was a bit of an issue as we arrived later in the afternoon. Hotel was pleasant for a one night stay but small room and a large stain on the carpet greeted us as we opened the door to enter. Had all the amenities necessary."

"Staff here are wonderful, it’s incredibly clean and beautifully decorated. Unfortunately the bed was so uncomfortable I didn’t sleep other than this everything was great. Food well presented and tasted soo good. "

"The property is in the middle of town so very convenient for a look around the following day. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us in the room (69 year olds). The beds were comfy and clean as was the bathroom. The decor was a little sad in the rooms but the comfort and price more than met expectations. My biggest concern was that we were put in the 2nd floor, with no lift and I have big mobility problems and struggled to get up and down the stairs. When asked if there was a similar room on the bottom floor I was told it was for two adults and a child only. I feel this is discriminating against disabled people (pensioners) who may not want a single room. And the risks of vacating the hotel in case of a fire would be a huge problem. To finish on a high note, the breakfast was very good, and we went back for a drink at lunch time and the food looked amazing but we were too full to eat after the size of the breakfast. "

"We were very happy with our stay, chose this hotel because of it's location, easy walk into Shaftesbury and gold hill, and next day to stourhead national trust. The room was very clean and everything worked ok but the room decor reflected the 3 star rating, but the bar and dinning areas were more like 4/5 star and also the food and service one of the best Sunday carveries ever, would return just for that, and then to top that the full English breakfast wow, that was definitely 5 star, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel has a large car park area which is shared by day visitors for restaurant and swimming pool which is free to guests, although the building looks a little tired we would use again because of the price, The only suggestion I would make is to separate the guests parking area from visitors . "

"Surprised we were given a room with a disabled bathroom but glad we didn't have stairs to climb as we are OAPs. Room was clean and had everything we needed for our one night stay. Disappointed with breakfast. We opted for continental breakfast. Regardless of arriving just after 8.30am, there was little choice and quantity available. We noticed other guests who were waiting for hot food had already taken large quantities of the continental choices, to be consumed as a second course. Regardless of being entitled to all the food on offer, it seemed rather greedy to deprive other guests. Maybe more food should be provided. The coffee and milk flasks were difficult to use. Had to ask for help from another guest as no staff around. Toaster was ineffective as toast was hardly brown. Very disappointed and left the table hungry. "
