2/10 Terrible

"The rooms were not clean and there was very loud music and shouting from the pub. When the room next door flushed the toilet there was a loud sound of water from the pipes. Despite putting my registration into their parking app I have been sent a fixed penalty notice which I now have to spend time appealing. Also, there was no parking spaces available on the second night so I had to park on the street."

"Bed Bugs We were supposed to stay for a week at the lodge but we had to cut our stay short on the very first night because of a bed bug crawling on the pillow. There was no emergency/out of hours number to contact on the night so we had to find last minute accommodation. In the morning, I spoke to the manager. I informed them of the bed bug currently held under a glass in our room. I asked if they wanted to see it but they did not want to. I was told it may not be a bed bug and that they need to get pest control in to verify. I have taken the attached video and photos so we may not forget what was on scene. I asked for a refund for our stay or for some compensation but they would not do so. They also said that even if it was a bed bug there needs to be an infestation of hundreds before they consider offering a refund. They did not apologise and there seemed to be no remorse in their tone or words. In fact their reaction seemed scripted like they have had this problem before. They simply told me no refunds and they'll get pest control in that day or soon after. This was on Thursday morning. I am writing this review on Monday, 4 days after the event. They told me they would email me with updates: they have not. Either they are keeping the bed bug alive until pest control arrive, or I dread to think they have disposed of the bed bug before pest control arrive. I am still open to a refund if they choose to contact me. I have more to say but I've reached the character limit"

New Hall Hotel & Spa

"Beautiful old main building and well constructed new wing that blended seamlessly with the old main Hall. However, due to the layout and lack of lifts it meant a really long walk from our room to the main reception area. The Hotel seemed to have a lack of staff - the very nice mature lady at reception, was multitasking and ended up carrying our bags up to the room. This staff shortage manifested itself later when we went to have dinner - to be told that the gas was off in the kitchen and therefore they could only serve cold food. A complaint - but not necessarily to the limited staff, was to the guests that stubbed their cigarette butts out on the lawn by the outside terrace - unacceptable behaviour. All in all - beautiful location but only an acceptable level of service and facilities - the public rooms were dated and more resembled the local golf club. It could be so much better."

"The location was great for what we needed. It was very well stocked with shower gels and toothpastes too, which was a very nice touch, even if we had our own. And the cleanliness of the property and the access to a very large garden was also great. Parking was good for multiple cars too, but we only had 2. Overall, a very good host and stay."
