The service was brilliant with Sebastian and John being so welcoming on arrival at the train station and helpful on departure including assisting me with gifts from the market. I was unexpectedly provided with free champagne and chocolates as a welcome gift. The room was fantastic with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast experience on the terrace with the sound of the waterfalls and a clear view of Machu Picchu was a once in a lifetime experience."

We only had a minor issue with the towels for our room were very damp and when we requested replacements, those were damp also. This could just have been a one off situation. The Mountain view faces the train tracks and new construction that is underway on the other side of the tracks so try and book River view if it’s available. "

"The Rupa Rupa is up quite a steep set of stairs. Once up there the room for four was large enough, however the bathroom is a bit small for four people. The breakfast was good and staff were friendly. You can hear the birds in the morning but also the nightlife so it's not quiet most of the day. Overall it was great, just be sure you can do 5 flights of stairs often and are okay with mountain air moisture."

"The reason for 4 stars is the noise in the building. The rooms have no outside windows but the window is into a small courtyard and the noise travels up very easily.
