Nice stay
It was a nice, comfortable room. The shower head was positioned much too low, and it really just has a tub instead of a shower. It also did not have AC but did have a fan.

Amazing location, excellent service
Our first impression was pretty negative. The room we got smelled like cigerattes, we felt there was no AC. However when we went to the front desk, they gave us a different room immediately and showed us how to turn on AC. The condition of the building wasn't great, and hard to locate the entrance but their service by far made for it. Initially hotels.com allowed me to book the hotel only for 3 nights. However by contacting property directly they assured me I could stay another night, and it was hassle free when I checked in. Location is amazing. You basically walk opposite and end up in Ximending Walking Street where all the happening things are. We were able to give them our clothes for laundry, and they delivered clean clothes in a nice bag to our room. Housekeeping was exceptional, and was very clean everyday. Amenities were appropriate. The front desk also helped change currency for us in small amounts. When I asked for luggage repair service as flight damaged my bag, they volunteered to give me one of their own suitcases. They booked an airport taxi for us at same rate as Uber at 6 am, but the front desk guy helped us take down the luggage and put it in the cab. Overall the initial look is not cleanest, and there is some smoking odor in the lobby despite being non-smoking facility but if you can get a nice room their service is exceptional and rooms are very spacious and comfortable.

Very much enjoyed my stay at Food Chang Hotel as a matter of fact I was there for three days and then I went out of town and came back and book the same room the sauna and the rooms are incredible the staff are amazing I got my laundry done everything was good I had no problem with the area I felt very safe there very much enjoyed it

The hotel is looking a little tired. It needs updating. Staff are really friendly and location is good. Please note: lift access is only available on second floor. So you have two flights of stairs before you get to reception

Old but clean in a great location
AC is just a button for ON and OFF but it kept a really comfortable temperature during our stay (late November). The door wasn’t very sturdy at all and if someone wanted to enter I’m sure they would be able to without much force. The reception seems to be manned 24/7 though so I doubt that anyone would find the opportunity to enter unnoticed. We brought our most valuable stuff whenever we left the room and locked our bags to a chair for some extra peace of mind. The location is really good, even with the 10-15 minutes walk to the subway. It’s just across the street from the liveliest streets in Ximending but still far away enough to not be disturbed by the masses of people. The elevator is at the first floor, where you’ll also find the reception, so if you can’t walk the two flights you should look elsewhere. All in all we’re really happy with our stay and will most likely return next time we’re in Taipei.

Could be better
After almost 30 hours from Europe to hotel I wanted to shower and then COLD water argh angry. Next day I figure it out you need to switch to hot (max) and wait few minutes. Had room on the same side of busy road so I heard cars all the time. Minibar was so loud I needed to switch off. Yeah this was bad stuff and the good? It was clean room except window and room is big for Asia.

Excellent service the staff were great and extremely polite really nice people. My room smelt a bit old and loudly so I requested to be moved to another room which the staff Kindley did, how ever the next room wasn’t to much better. Pretty old furnishings but location was great

Pretty good Budget hotel
Rooms are pretty small, but I think it’s okay. Open luggage and there’s spaces to move around. Staff is friendly, helpful and approachable!! No lift from first to second level (where reception is located), however the staff has helped us with the luggage!! 👍 Room not very soundproof, but luckily the time I stayed not many guest is noisy. Hotel is pretty far away from Ximen MRT Exit 6. But is located close to Cinema district.

The hotel supplies what a guest basic needs. From daily supply of water, fresh towels and fresh bedding everyday. comfy bed that you can have a good night sleep. Very close to ximen station exit 6 to Ximending. Lots of things to do in the area. From eating to shopping.

Good location, good stuff but the room...
The location was right next to the city 西門 and only 5-10 min to the big station named Xemen (Ximen?). Good points of this hotel are the location and stuff. Even thought the stuff at the hotel didn’t speak fluently, their English was good enough to understand each other. Disappointed points are hotel’s smell and the room and supplies. The smell was just like a public restroom... we didn’t smell it inside of our room but started smelling right after we turned on the air conditioner. Also there were some holes on walls inside of the bathroom and the hotel was right next to a big road so it was quite noisy but it was fine after we closed a bathroom door. The supplies, they give you enough supplies like tooth brushes and soap and shampoos. But the bath towels they gave me seemed liked they’ve been using so long so it had many holes. The bath towels were clean tho.

The hotel staffs are friendly and offered to do housekeeping everyday. While my mom and myself was struggling with our luggage, they offered to help us carry it up to the 2nd floor where the lift is at. They are courteous and gave us a few advices to our questions. The hotel is located at the end of xmd bustling district hence it is very quiet and peaceful to rest at night.

Great hotel for the price

Dont judge the facade -- the place is great
Very very friendly owner provided extra assistance o things to do. She even took ouu luggage and helped us hail a cab. The bldg is definitely old but the room was very clean and towels were changed daily. Will recommend!!!

Good value hotel in Ximending area
It was wonderful. Staff were really amazing. Hotel is quite old, but the rooms are clean. Very good location. Close to shopping area, street food, and MRT station. Love that they clean my room everyday, and refill everything inside, including coffee and bottled water. Very good budget hotel.

5-star service from owner. Good location.
Fu Chang facilities are old (design are from 1980's), but fairly well maintained. Comfortable beds, good location (15 min walk from Ximen station). Able to reserve and take Freego coach ride to Airport in front of Hotel entrance. Modern LED TV with more than 100 over channels. Free Wifi available.
