"This lodge was in an absolutely beautiful location, right on the edge of a lake, which you could walk all the way round. There were swans on the lake, and while we were there the female was sitting on a nest. We spotted various different birds including oyster catchers which have a lovely whistling chirp. The inside of the lodge was very clean and had everything we needed for the weekend. The bed was comfortable so we slept well. Outside there was a small table and chairs which were undercover so even when it rained a little we could still sit outside to drink a glass of wine and watch the lake. Then there was a full sized table with four chairs on the decking to eat in the sunshine, sun loungers and a lovely hanging chair. And of course the hot tub which was perfect! It was spacious, the water was clean and nice and hot. There was a small boat tied up on the jetty which we used to have a little paddle on the lake. The host Bea was so lovely. She met us at the property when we arrived to show us around. She left us a lovely bottle of wine and because it was Easter also a Lindt bunny each. We even made friends with one of her little dogs - Tink - who came to say hello while we were there. Altogether it is such a beautiful place and I would absolutely recommend it for a relaxing, peaceful holiday. We will definitely be going back"

"Overall, this stay was disappointing, especially given the price of over £200 per night. The facilities didn’t match expectations. There’s a pool table in the games room, but it isn’t free to use, which feels unreasonable at this price point. There’s also no cash machine on site, and the nearest one is about a 20-minute drive away in Hexham. Despite this, reception and bar staff were unwilling to provide change or offer cashback, which made things unnecessarily inconvenient and disappointing. The rooms are in need of a refurbishment. There were visible scuffs on the furniture, the décor felt dated (particularly the wooden furnishings and artex ceiling), and small details like non-soft-close toilet seats and a broken lamp all added up. These are the kinds of things you would expect to be addressed in a 4-star hotel. There were also issues with the bar. We were told it would be open until late, but on a Saturday night it closed at 9pm. A couple were even asked to leave before they could finish watching the football, which didn’t feel very accommodating. Sleep was difficult due to a flag positioned outside the room window, which flapped loudly in the wind throughout the night. Finally, although the booking stated “pay at the property,” the payment was taken the day before arrival, which wasn’t what we expected. The breakfast was great and so was the room size but overall the experience didn’t justify the cost, and there are several areas that need improvement."

"The cottage is lovely, however 60 to clean it was a joke when it wasn’t even that clean when we got there and had to hoover it ourselves due to a few bugs on the kitchen floor and the rug in the living room covered with stains. The TV didn’t work and couldn’t receive any channels, and when we spoke to the customer service team they basically said we didn’t know how to work a TV, even though there was clearly an issue with the Ariel. Beds are comfy, place is nicely decorated, but just wasn’t happy with the customer support team treating us like idiots and the 60 cleaning charge. Also, once booked in you receive so many messages a day regarding a private chef or a tour guide that it became a nuisance and started to ruin the build up to the holiday. I’m not saying don’t stay here because it is a lovely cottage. However, sort the tv out and actually clean the place properly to warrant charging us 60 to clean it if you have a pet. "

"Winnie Cottage is absolutely beautiful. Every aspect of the cottage is well thought out & the facilities are excellent. Especially the hot tub, It’s huge & the sauna aswell as all the other facilities provided means u don’t need to leave as there is something for everyone. The games room is a great addition for teenagers aswell as all the games, toys etc for smaller children. On arrival we were welcomed with a fantastic hamper which was a lovely surprise. The hosts are very welcoming & nothing is too much trouble, the communication is excellent. I can’t recommend this place enough. It truly is a beautiful hidden gem "
