"Beautiful property, very spacious units, in fact it could have easily slept quite a few more people. The 2 bedroom unit is actually a 3 bedroom and the 1 bedrooms we saw all had 2 bedrooms. The extra bedroom was small with two twin beds which is maybe why they don’t count it? We loved it and would stay there again. Two complaints only: 1-it was quite damp and cold when we arrived so it would have been nice if they had turned the heat on in preparation for our arrival. 2-it wasn’t clear that...

"This place is a dump. Do not stay here, and don’t trust the reviews that say otherwise! This place might have been great in the 90s, but that’s the last time anything was maintained and/or cleaned thoroughly. Our first room was dark and filthy, and located on the maintenance side of the property. So we went to the front desk to ask to get moved since most rooms were sitting empty. The second room was just as bad. Shower doors were falling off and the shower head was broken. The wooden closet...

"We couldn't have been happier with our stay. Ralph made us feel very welcome and was extremely helpful with recommendations on where to go and eat etc. The house was very comfortable and had everything we needed, and was in a great location, minutes from the beach and local amenities, including supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Praia das Maçãs is a very chilled and relaxing place to stay and we met some lovely people. We stayed 12 nights and loved it. Thank you Ralph, we hope to be back! :-)"

"A Barca charm house was the perfect place for our entire family to enjoy a week in beautiful Portugal. Sandra and Eduardo are the most charming hosts and so helpful. The house was supplied with everything we needed, clean, comfortable, and gorgeous. There are bikes, games, toys and an awesome heated swimming pool. So close to all the major sites and beaches. I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay!"

"One always hopes that the actual lives up to the pictures. This house exceeds that. Absolutely spectacular. The host could not have been nicer and accommodating. Helped us arrange a private chef come in and prepare a dinner. All I can say is it was worth the cost. Chef Frederico was incredible. The road in and out was a little challenging but that just added that much more charm. The ease of getting to different beaches and site seeing made the location perfect. We would definitely do it again....

"What an incredible experience! Built in the 1940s (I believe) on a 17th century fort on a windblown beach in a national park? Yes please! The natural beauty alone is worth staying here. But the use of stone and wood and natural elements was superb. I saw some reviews complain about the age of the place. Well my room and the whole wing appears quite new. Decor is simple and comfortable and more than spacious enough for Americans. My room (#50) had a huge patio with views of both the dunes...

"The staff at Penha Longa were fantastic. Everyone was very accommodating and helpful. We spent 4 nights here for our Babymoon and were really pleased with our choice to stay here. My husband played 3 rounds of golf and I went to the spa for multiple treatments during the week. The food at the various restaurants was fantastic as well; we ate at Mercatto twice! We will definitely be back."
