This hostel was clean and comfy. They even have a couple of private rooms, ours had a tv! The staff was helpful when it came to questions about how to navigate the islands. They are also a REALLY fun time. There is a newly opened "bar" here which was a great way to hang out with other travelers and have a good time. The bed was so, so, but everything was clean and neat. The only thing that wasn't good about this hostel is that it's pretty far from everything BUT the ferry docks. We had a car, which was ideal but others had problems getting taxis or other transportation to tours, beaches, etc. Overall, a great place to stay on the cheap, especially if you're hoping to ferry out to the other islands.
Was catching an early ferry and so was very convenient. Can walk to the ferry in three minutes.
Roof terrace was being renovated at the time.
Can order food delivery otherwise very limited food options nearby without a car.

Well for one night OK, the room was dirty but the kitchen and bathroom clean. Otherwise staff was great and helpfull.

Far from everything. Lots of drugs
Staff are up at all hours of the night playing music outside and smoking marijuana. They also sell marijuana in the parking lot. The hostel is far from everything and the taxis aren't cheap. The only upside is that it is right next to the ferry

convenient for budget traveler and early ferry
rented a private room in the hostel. great for budget traveler and taking an early ferry to culebra or vieques islands. shared bathrooms were in good condition for hostel. staff were friendly and helpfull.
This hostel is on a very poor condition, the worst I've ever seen. It is filthy, only one bathroom is working properly (another one is out of order and the toilets in the last one don't flush...), and the bugs are in plain sight. Also, there's no breakfast, no parking at a nearby location, and the price is just crazy high for what it is.
Before booking there, be advised that many of the things advertised for this hostel are not accurate: No breakfast, no coffee, dirty (it's the worst hostel I've ever been to - expect to see bugs...), no actual free parking as free parking = street, and so on. It's terribly expensive for what it is, and you'll have to spend more $ on what is promised but fake.
Also, the photos on their website are outdated. As they say on their website, everything is "brand new", but that was many years ago.
In the end, just don't go there.
I have probably stayed in 40-50 hotels/motels/hostels within my lifetime and this is by far the worst!! Only the second of which I would never return to and worst than the first.
First of all, the staff are volunteers. In a set-up that I have never heard of before, they are there in exchange for free travel and living expenses. As such, the space is not very clean and they are not readily available. They are missing most of the time, living somewhere within the communal or not so communal spaces of the hostel.
Secondly, and by far the worst of it, the hotel room had insects, and atleast one apparent bed bug. I was bitten under my socks in a pattern of three. The bites swelled up and itched for a few days. There were also mosquitoes in the room.
Third of all, the ventilation coming for the AC is bad and the bathrooms are hot with no ventilation. It's a space to sweat.
Arrived in the evening at the hostel looking for the free parking. We found out that free parking meant street parking where we were told that 2 days prior to our stay someone's battery was stolen from the car. They did not have our reservation in the system (In fact, after I checked in, I got an e-mail from the hostel that night to "prepare" me for my visit and thank me for booking through expedia, which should've been sent before my arrival). I had to show my e-mail confirmation and the gentlemen was able to put us in a room.
I've stayed in numerous hostels on past trips, so I have an understanding of the hostel setup (shared bathroom & living area). We had a private room, but arrived and the door was open so possibly used by others. The floor was dirty and the sheets looked worn with stains on them. The good news is that the bed was comfortable and the air condition worked as described. However, that's about the only thing that matched the description/pictures. The facility was very worn down. There was also no breakfast (as described) in the morning.
We had gotten the room just for the night to rest before going to Vieques. However, we got little rest. It was so loud with a party & loud music going on the rooftop. People were also stopping or something because we heard thumping on the ceiling above us. It wasn't until after 1am that the music stopped. It would be great to note that in the description to make it clear that this place is meant for party goers.
Nice cockroaches on the bed huuuummmm welcome! Thanks god we just stayed one night!

No ferry tick convenience
My final destination is Culebra Island, and tons of people mentioned the difficulties to get a ferry ticket. One of the reviews mentioned the staff can be helpful to buy one for you. But I tried with no luck. Staff is OK but nonlocal and cannot help.
Overall, the hostel is good if you just stay one night to get up early to buy a ferry ticket to Culebra. 3-minute walking to ferry. Other than that, there's nothing special. Room is OK. Not much fun. Since there're more choices in town with that price, I would not recommend it.
The entire facility clean. The bathrooms were newer and roof top deck was nice . This is a good place to recharge your batteries before blasting off to one of the smaller islands of Puerto Rico.

Inexpensive decent motel
This is a motel with very little amenities but it is very inexpensive. This is not a family motel. Single young adults are the main guests. The room was clean, which I shared with 2-6 other individuals, and the bed comfortable. There is a kitchen that they will provide pancake mix and coffee. Bathroom is shared. Staff was friendly and helpful. Met three young men from the Swiss consulate in Boston. They were fun to talk with. There are individuals from all over the country and world. I was in PR to take care of some quick personal business and only needed a place to sleep. This was the perfect place for me.
I chose this place since I wanted to go to Culebra and El Jungue with the ferry just next door. I chose the 6 bed room and was happy with the comfort and all the nice tourists I shared the room with. The staff were just as helpful as could be and would sit around and chat which was nice since i travel alone. Weekends are expensive in San Juan so the price was stupid cheap. I would stay here every time for a few days should I go back to PR.

NEAR THE FERRY, BUT NOT MUCH ELSE.
Old hostel, open air design, some cockroaches as expected (the cute kind) Very convienent to the ferry. Our group had 3 rooms over 2 nights. 3 mosquitos, 2 working air conditioners, 3 soft beds, shared showers had hot water. pretty much need a car to access anything other than the ferry as the nearest convience store with beer or wine is a 30 minute walk. felt safe. cab ride from san juan is $80-$100. Rent a car and be sure to see the rainforest on the way.The vibe is equal parts international and stoner making for fun conversation on the roof top. this place is not for everyone, but can be fun if you understand what to expect. Staff was helpful.
Great view, very helpful staff. Location in Fajardo is great and near the ferry to Vieques ad Culebra, room was pretty clean, comfortable, and had a tv and roku (even if we didn't use them).
