"I really enjoyed my stay at the Mercure. After a long drive it was so nice to have a swim in the pool and relax in the jacuzzi and sauna. The bed in my room was so comfy and the room itself was spacious and so quiet. I also loved the blinds to make the room completely dark. The hotel was really easy to find and luckily not far from the motorway so I didn’t have to navigate too far. I also ate in the restaurant and the food was really nice and the service was very good. I would definitely stay here again. "

"This was a last minute booking as our daughter wan't very well. The staff were lovely, very welcoming and friendly. The hotel was very smart and I liked the interior design. The bedrooms and a selection of books on a bookshelf which was a nice touch, the bathroom was great, having a walk in shower and a bathtub. Breakfast was lovely. "

"The room was spotless and very chic. Its small, so not a lot of room for big luggage. The location was perfect for traveling by train because it's one bus stop away from the train station. Down a few stairs and you're in the charming streets of Basel. I would stay here again! "

"I highly recommend that everyone should look beyond the big expensive city of Basel and look into Germany for accommodations. Although this hotel had slightly outdated décor, one can see that this hotel, and it's staff, have a lot of pride in their work place, and they offer great service. My room was spotless, had all the necessities except for air conditioning but thankfully, it was a cool enough night that it wasn't necessary. The hotel offered a plentiful and fresh breakfast buffet that was fit for a king. Everything was wonderful at the Carathotel. I really commend the staff that was very welcoming."

"Clean and spacious rooms. Friendly staff. Location about a 2-minute walk from the Swiss border is super convenient. The Swiss tram station is about a 5-minute walk away, and from there you’re in Basel-City within about 10 minutes. I would definitely stay there again. "
