Horsley Lodge Hotel

"A lovely hotel and the staff were welcoming. This was a quiet break for myself and my soon to be married daughter. The room was lovely though the view was of the roof which was a shame and not of the beautiful scenery but we needed a rest so wasn’t too concerned. There was a good selection for hot drinks and complimentary biscuits and water which was a nice touch. The food is absolutely first class especially the Sunday Roast! Top marks to the chef and staff who were so friendly. Only one complaint was an odour in our room which the cleaner kindly tried to get rid of but it lingered and a few spiders. We were only there for a short break so didn’t make a fuss. Definitely will recommend ones to visit and definitely will stay again. Thank you."

"Newly renovated semi-detached house in a residential area near Ripley. We were a family group of 6 attending a funeral and the house worked well for us. The downstairs bedroom and ensuite was perfect for my elderly mum (good walk-in shower). The kitchen/dining space was spacious and well equipped. The lounge was comfortable. Upstairs there are 3 good sized double rooms and a spacious modern bathroom. One bedroom has an en-suite which has a shower and basin. The garden is just laid to lawn but there’s a lovely tree and patio with table and chairs. There was room for two cars on the drive. Full marks for installing an air source heat pump in the house. The area seemed quiet at night. Tesco nearby."

"We celebrated a big birthday at Juglans barn last weekend with family. The place was gorgeous, very clean and spacious and just perfect for what we wanted. We especially loved the hot tub. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. All in all I would definitely recommend this property for a celebration and would consider it again in the future."

"We had a lovely week away. The cottage was well situated for things we wanted to do. Paul across the road we met as we were leaving was very friendly and checked that everything with our stay was ok. He doesnâ€™t have a car so parking on his drive worked really well (I was worry we would have to keep moving the car/get trapped in.) and we were able to get to our car whenever we needed it. Tescos is a 5 min walk and town is very close. There is a nice play park just across the road and Alfreton park is longer walk through town. It was an easy drive to get to all the things we wanted to visit. Castleton and Stoke is around an hour, Matlock and Derby is around 30 mins. The small garden was lovely to sit out on in an evening. The house was small but suited our needs, there was relatively basic supplies/equipment in the kitchen, but we managed to make do with what was there fairly easily. The whole place could do with a bit of a deep clean, but the bedding was nice and clean. The single beds were less comfortable, but the girls said they slept ok. We had a fabulous time away."
