Peter, we were both sad and frustrated by your review: Sad because we work hard to provide happy holidays for our guests and frustrated because this was so avoidable. If you had read the information online and also the detailed information we sent to you, you would have realised that we do not have a lift, that the room you were booking was a studio apartment and you would have also seen a realistic photograph of the sea view from the room you booked. And upon reading this you would have realised that you had booked a resort, room and view that does not suit your tastes.We do urge those that are considering staying at our resort that to read the information available on our website and then sent to you post booking. We loved everything, starting with such a warm welcome from Myrna. Our unit had everything we needed, and being able to use bikes, and any piece of beach equipment you can think of (including wagons for transport), made it feel like we were staying with friends.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. The location was really convenient to four mile beach, the women who worked there were very friendly and the place we had was very spacious. They had all sorts of things to make your beach day more enjoyable, including chairs, sand toys, balls, ice chests, boogie boards, etc. They also had some exercise equipment which you could take to your room and use. I would definitely stay there again.

One of the nicest places we have ever stayed. On the main drag of a cute little town right next to 4 mile beach. Perfect location. Everything worked in our suite with a fabulous kitchen that had everything you need. Plenty of room. Highly recommend the suite if you can get it. They have bikes, kayaks, floats, books, DVDs - all for free! Easily the best part of our trip to Australia.

Staff and Manager looked after us through out our trip. We were unfortunate with our timing as we were there when Cyclone Jasper arrived but they really looked after us and kept us informed through out. Well equipped accommodation 👍

This is a lovely hotel with the village nearby on one side and the ocean on the other. The staff are all very pleasant and the dog playing football in the lobby is a plus. I found it difficult to adapt to the fact that the reception staff was present only between 9 am and 5 pm

A lovely place to stay right next to 4 Mile Beach, close to shops, cafes, and restaurants! Staff extremely helpful! Room clean, modern, fully equipped, air conditioning, very comfortable. Many free amenities, bikes, beach items, movies, Netflix! Pool was very refreshing! Had a fabulous 3 days at By the Sea!

What a great find! The location is fabulous. The facility is welcoming, well stocked with anything you should need towels floaty’s books videos. The room itself is wonderful. Great to have a washer and dryer and a stovetop, microwave and refrigerator. The “girls” were friendly and very helpful. Will recommend to everyone

Wow! Talk about looking after all the little details. This place had everything one needs for a fabulous stay in Port Douglas. The in-room amenities were plentiful and the printed guides were full of detail. The extra amenities for spending the day at the beach were amazing as well. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Ugh rations are plentiful and do not disappoint. We will definitely be back.

Highly Recommend By The Sea
The team were welcoming and friendly from the moment we booked. Whatever we needed, they had it ready to go in reception (to name a few coffee machines, beach chairs, bikes, coolers, ice machine, water chiller, gym weights and yoga mats) to ensure we enjoyed the beach (300m walk if that) and exploring the rainforest. The facilities were excellent for the money and we would happily stay again. Our top tip: borrow one of the 4 wheel carts, load up the chairs and coolers and roll down to the beach for the day! We would have loved to have stayed longer but sadly onto the next stop in our trip!
