Rent a car and use this as your home base to explore all the gorgeous medieval towns within an hour proximity. Take advantage of the heated infinity pool overlooking the Tuscan countryside. And if you find yourself indulging in their perfect woodfired pizza on a nightly basis, remind yourself it's vacation and you deserve it. You're in heaven afterall."

"Hotel La Colonna is a lovely hotel with a pool set in gardens but it’s the location that is a problem. It is set on a main through road on the outskirts of Siena. You will have to bus or taxi into the centre. Buses don’t run at night. We did eat at a lovely family run Italian pizza restaurant close by and there are a few other eateries but you are limited.
