"Rooms were clean and tidy plus the corridors were always clear which helped us as my wife has mobility issues. The restaurant had good variety for meals and breakfast would fill you for the day if you wanted. My only complaint is that the sides of the dining tables were a bit sticky. Overall this is third time we have stayed this year so I think that tells you all you need to know"

"Hotel is well placed in Gretna and accessible from M74. The room I was in was really clean and comfortable. Only concern was being next to a room where there was a dog and it barked in the night, breaking my sleep."

"This family run hotel is very comfortable and full of character. All the staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. Great views of the surrounding hills. I really liked having access to fresh milk that we could take up our room to make tea. The room was well equipped- useful USB charging point on the wall beside the bedside table. Breakfast excellent - hot food cooked perfectly to order and a good selection of cereals, yoghurt, fruit etc at the buffet. The EV charger was very convenient. The hotel is not licensed but there is a cabinet in the lounge with a great selection of glasses that can be used with any drinks you bring in. All in all our lovely accommodation ensured we had a very enjoyable short break at the lakes. 😊"

"Nice hotel only just over 5 mins walk from the Railway station. And about 10mins walk from the Festival. I went to Carlisle Blues Rhythm and Rock put on by Solid Entertainments. The best music promoter in the UK. The Room was nice with one of them all in one bathrooms in them which I like. Shower was easy to work. Bed was clean. Wooden floor. Breakfast was pretty good. All hot food had lids on them so warmer than the terrible infa red lights at some other places where it is always cold. Staff nice. Easy check in. And Hotel handy for City centre and Castle. Town was clean. People very nice."

"Really nice staff. Peter was especially helpful putting something I’d left on one side until I could return and pick it up. The hotel is pretty big running along several Georgian houses. The room was very large and very well modernised As a hotel they don’t serve breakfast but that’s not an issue as several nearby places do. It’s located on a lovely spot - probably the best area to see Cockermouth . I’d thoroughly recommend it"
