"Great hotel fornour needs. The staff were all great. Friendly and very helpful. We have a dog and he was made very welcome. The parking is superb as you can park rightnoutside of your room. It would be superb for motorcyclist yo be able to secure the machine outside of their room for piece of mind. It is in a quiet area and all the guests were pleasant so you can have a relaxing evening. We were visiting Beamish museum and it is a very short drive from the hotel. The food is great and not over priced. If we return to the area, this will be our first choice hotel. "

"Possibly because it was for Sunday & Monday nights, our 2-night stay was exceptional value. Very comfortable dormer-style room across the courtyard from the main castle (glad we missed last week's mini-heatwave or it would have been hot - although there was a big fan provided). Excellent breakfasts with interesting choices as well as full English. Friendly and efficient staff. We didn't eat in the main restaurant this time but we know it's good; we just didn't feel our appetites could do it justice and it is quite expensive - good for a celebration meal though. We ate in town Sunday night then in the hotel bar on Monday - the steak pie, mash & tenderstem broccoli was excellent."
