Reno’s love of this iconic American pastime is here to be enjoyed.

Opened in 1995, The National Bowling Stadium is one of the largest bowling centres in the world. Although it features 78 lanes and luxury seating for more than 1,000 spectators, this is much more than a bowling alley. The facility also hosts events and conferences which draw thousands of bowling enthusiasts from all over the world. It is worth trying to catch one of these during your visit as the stadium is open to the public and they are a thoroughly unique spectacle. Outside of these events, the sheer scale of the complex will appeal even to non-bowling enthusiasts.

The stadium is not difficult to find as the 24-metre aluminium dome which fronts the building resembles a massive, gleaming bowling ball. This gleaming landmark can be seen twinkling from almost everywhere in Reno.

The lobby is home to a bronze statue donated by The Brunswick Corporation one of the world’s most iconic bowling companies.

The huge bowling centre and stadium seating are to be found upstairs, along with one of the world’s longest video screens. Score and images are projected onto this screen during events.

While the tournament lanes are exclusively for competitors, the enthusiastic beginner can plot their progress on the Computer Aided Tracking System (CATS) Lane. This cutting edge technology offers assessment and guidance on the state of your game.

Those bitten by the bowling bug, or who are visiting to indulge their passion, are equally well served by the pro shop known as Lane 81. The nearby Stadium Club has a full bar and vintage billiard table. The National Bowling Stadium is located at the heart of Reno and is a slice of pure Americana and a fascinating access point to the history of bowling. It is easily accessible by public transport.
