"I was a little scared to stay here based on review but honestly, I thought it was great. Amazing location. Walked to downtown, old wharf- and from the wharf to cannery row. There was also a free trolley (in summer) that runs from the wharf to cannery row with a stop right outside the hotel. It’s a little worn - older property - but rooms were large and clean- and the beds were comfy. Breakfast was great- full breakfast on weekend - continental on weekdays. Only one tiny hot tub for large property, and people always in it - so we weren’t able to use that… it is on a busy street, but I used earplugs :) So that didn’t bother me too much. Overall, for the price (compared to other options), the size of rooms, and location- we thought it was great. Most of the staff was super friendly too. "

"In general very convenient hotel for family vacation: golf, pickleball, easy to get around, nice staff and in general everything is very convenient. On weekends gets busy. One thing we did like, the doors to the bathroom, these sliding mechanism is a bad idea for hotel "

"The Monterey Hotel was great find. Location was really good and the hotel was quaint and charming. The public areas were a little worn out but the rooms were in good shape and the bed was very comfortable. "

"The hotel is centrally located, steps away from fisherman's wharf. Your can walk to the cannery row, aquarium or take the free trolley. Trolley stop is steps away from hotel, and it goes by every 10-15 minutes with various stops on their route. Make sure to stop by Carmel Bakery in the hotel and get their giant pretzel before they sell out. "

"Staff is AMAZING. I felt super welcome and attended to the entire time. Welcome glass of wine *sweet*. Everything updated and cozy without feeling small or confined. Easy to find your way around. Easy parking and loading zone. Heated pool is the perfect temp to still enjoy swimming for hours while the jacuzzi was extra bubbly, extra heated and felt so good. Hotel was apparently sold out this weekend but the quietness and beauty were not affected. I couldn’t even tell they were sold out. Pool was not crowded, towels provided and plenty of seating. Breakfast? Oh my gosh. Compliments to the chef. Scrambled eggs, French toast, seasoned potatoes and breakfast burrito offered and so yummy. Better than Dennys I promise. Three cereals, oatmeal, overnight oats (YUM! Even if you’re not looking for healthy it was so good), bagels, toast variety and yogurts. Fresh apples, oranges and bananas. Cream cheese, jams, butter and honey to top it all off. Apple, orange and cranberry juices offered along with coffee, tea and hot cocoa. One of the best stays "
