"Comfortable bed. Basic amenities. Quiet neighborhood, but thin walls. Limited onsite parking. Friendly and helpful staff. Good location, as far as restaurants, entertainment and walk to the beach."

"The initial draw to this place was the price which had us thinking it was too good to be true. A decent price, a good looking room and the mention of free breakfast…no way. The only thing that needed to be changed was our room because of a slight noise disturbance(a tree hitting the rooftop) but the staff was accommodating and had us in a new cottage within minutes. Both rooms were very clean, roomy and had everything we needed. Location wise, this is a great spot within walking distance to the beach and less than a 10 minute drive to downtown Monterey! As if all of that is not enough already, their breakfast is impressive. There are two very friendly staff members working the breakfast dining room and knocking it out of the park! They have a buffet with eggs and potatoes and a rotating daily special, along with cold and hot cereals, coffee, bagels, fruit, toast, oatmilk and gluten free options. If you’re staying in the cottages, this meal is free of charge. You cannot beat it, highly recommend this spot!"

"As a new property, there’s no need to deal with aging infrastructure. The noise from the outside world is effectively muted. The noise from the crying baby next door, a little less so. The property is pet friendly. As a dog love this makes me happy. If you are allergic or want to avoid dog hair on your clothes, just be aware. There was a power outage when we arrived at check in time. We were delayed getting into our rooms and the staff were largely busy scrambling to manage without their computer systems etc. we were not offered any light compensation as a result of the delays getting settled in so perhaps that can be added to the Kimpton hospitality playbook. Despite the added stress, the staff were friendly and as accommodating as they could be. The location is convenient to everything and having the valet service added to the compulsory resort fees means you have easy access to Monterey and Carmel as well."

"You can easily walk down to the trail from the hotel but be prepared to walk back uphill once your there, my Garmin clocked it at about half a mile. If you like to run or walk it’s a nice place to do that in the AM. Turn right at the bottom of the hill and the trail takes you to Lovers Point, Cannery Row or keep going to the wharf, turn left and you’ll end up on some 17 mile drive stops…also nice. The hotel itself does not have AC that we could find, only a heater. It has a sliding glass door which was kinda weird. It still uses regular keys. If you want fresh air you’d have to leave the slider open and I guess you can lock that but if I’m by myself and the only thing protecting me in the night from a thief or worse is a screen door I’m probably not going to go with that option. There wasn’t enough parking, so we had to park across the street next to the apartments. They have crossaints, muffins, babybel cheese and coffee and juice boxes for the morning, which was nice. The bathroom was a little small and the tub had a weird slope so might want to be careful. The morning attendant must have been having a bad morning as he was not friendly or engaging, maybe he’s the owner? The lady in the evening was nice. The price was good for where we wanted to be, which was close to the sea. Enjoy! A few rooms have an ocean view, ours did not so if that’s what you want be sure to ask for a room with a view. Seemed like those rooms had real doors, not sliders."
