"Spent a lovely week at Ashlea Country Cottage, Ann, the owner was so nice and helpful, made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. This is a lovely cosy cottage set in beautiful peaceful surroundings. We even got real thick snow which was an added bonus, great to watch surrounding wildlife and had visits from sheep. "Stayed at Radisson as close proximity to the centre, walking distance in fact. Stayed in a superior room. Very spacious and clean. Parking at hotel a bonus and didn't need to use car again until we departed. Staff so helpful, whether reception, restaurant or housekeeping. Would definitely stay here again when in Durham."

"The was an amazing find, not often one gets to stay in a CASTLE!! The grounds are so beautiful and many period features kept, there is even a Dungeon and a Ballroom for hire 😆. The breakfast had a selection of cooked to order hot food including a vegan choice."

"All the staff are very friendly and thats what makes this hotel the great place it is. The food is nice. I had a lovely pie there. The breakfast choice is good. The room is clean. The only negative is the bathroom needs updating. It was a bit shabby. This is the 2nd time ive stayed here and I would definitely stay again."

"Slaley is a grand hotel, outdated in parts, but don't let this put you off. Check in was quick, room spacious and clean. Nice view over looking the driveway. Bars were good and not to expensive. Breakfast was ok,food was fine, but kept running bout. lots of guests and the coffee machines kept running out aswell. Leisure facilities were good, could do with more loungers, but its finding places to put them. Overall had a good might away. Would stay again"
