"MUST stay if ever in Puerto Rico; beautiful place"
Part of the "experience" of the Rainforest Experience is definitely the drive up. It was slick and steep and at times quite curvy, but our little Toyota Yaris rental made it up that mountain with no problems. It was slow-going at times because of all the potholes, but at no point did we ever feel unsafe. There are signs pointing you up the mountain--just keep following them. Definitely arrive before dark, as stated, (too dangerous otherwise). We arrived at around 1:00 PM and were allowed to check-in early because our room happened to be ready. We were greeted by Rafael--an incredibly nice man who told us about the trails and dinner times and such before we headed up to our room. Our room had a queen bed, couch, chairs, shared balcony, gorgeous shower, TONS of space, and lots of windows that opened up to the rainforest. Our view was spectacular. No A/C, but it's not necessary because the breeze at night keeps you cool. Rafael told us about dinner--usually he or one of the other women working cooks at night if people are interested in having dinner on-site (which we recommend--it was delicious; family-style). We hiked around the trails on the property, escorted by the dogs, who are all very sweet. Definitely have lunch down in the town below before coming to the hotel and/or bring snacks. Breakfast was continental (cereal, coffee, fruit, bagels, fresh bread), but substantial. Plenty for everyone. We can't stress enough how beautiful this place is. VERY romantic!

"Business trip turned into a mini vacation"
This place is off the beaten path and away from the big crowds. Very pleasant people. good restaurants, especially the Blue Hawaii oriental place. They have some excellent sushi Chef/artists. Prices are good and the fish is super fresh. The beach is in walking distance and the pool is just outside the door.

"Nice hotel close to the beach and El Yunque"
Overall had a great time at Club Cala. The staff was friendly but we had a mixup with the cleaning service. The villa was right off of the river so we had a spectacular view. The beach was within walking distance. I would definitely stay there again. One great thing about Club Cala was that it was pretty much right off of PR53. Easy to get on and off.

"A perfect place for a couple of days in Paradise ."
Our family had the pleasure to spend two day in this beautiful place . After reading some of the review , I was a bit a nervous . But when we arrived , I was very pleased with our room . We had a great location and the place was not crowded it was just perfect for our family . People need to understand you are not a five star resort .. You are basically getting what you’re paying for .. The room was a good size and was clean . The only disappointment was the restaurant price .. The food was ok but the price were a too high especially for the small portions .. The first night our kids ordered grilled cheese and they were good but then the second day it was more like toast with cheese .. If you stay here I highly recommend for you to go out of the property to eat .. We found a bakery fir breakfast and it was really cheap like five minutes away and if you go into town like ten min away plenty of restaurant to eat .. Since we booked with Expedia we were told we had no meals included .. But in general it’s a great stay for a couple of days ... It has a nice basketball court , an area to play volleyball and a nice little playground for small kids and the hammocks were just perfect .. The staff was very nice during check in and check out .. I used the laundry room, but make sure you don’t load a lot of clothes in the dryer .. ( I think they need to get a new one ) I did not check the beach we spend a whole week in the west part of the island we had enough beach ..We were looking to

"Friendly Hotel on beach"
The staff is super friendly and helpful, speak both English and Spanish. All rooms are right on the beach; however the beach is not as pleasant as we would have liked it to be-pretty rocky, lots of coral reefs, and many waves (no wave breaks). There is fairly sized pool that is open 8am to 8pm. Each morning you do get a complimentary breakfast, which would be either a bagel, toast, or muffin (otherwise you can choose form the other options and deduct $4 from the pricing- kind of confusing but nice that they offered it) They also served lunch and dinner on site that was very good and you definitely get a lot for what you have to pay for the meals. It is about 40 minute drive to anything (i.e. Walmart/any town) however there are several beaches and restaurants along the way. A lot of locals selling things on the side of the road. If you are looking for more of a secluded honeymoon type resort, I highly recommend this place. If you want more touristy and shops, i recommend staying near or in San Juan.

"Great staff, hotel could be better"
We had a mixed experience at this hotel. I would say that the staff's willingness to help us and make our experience better salvaged our stay and allowed us to have a good time. The first room we were assigned was not properly cleaned, it had a sofa with some holes in it and was located in an area that looked like an attic. We talked to the front desk staff and their manager helped us find a more appropriate room. We ended up staying at a suite which was very nice, but still the A/C was leaking and the bathtub was in bad condition. But it was definitely an upgrade and the manager was great. The pool is small but it is exactly what we need it. Our only complain was that we ordered Mojitos, which we had heard were a specialty, and they did not have the mint to make them!! Also, that night we went to the Amalgama restaurant were we were served by a nice waiter. However, we order Cottonela and after 15 min the waiter came back and told us that they ran out of it. Again, their staff save the experience. They gave us anything we wanted from the menu at the same price of what we had ordered and gave us a free dessert. The next morning we went for breakfast at the same restaurant and ordered a la carte. We ordered waffles and after 10 minutes, guess what? The waitress came and told us there were no waffles because they do not turn on the waffle maker as most costumers go for the buffet...We then got other items from the menu at the same price.

"Luxury"
This place was amazing. We had a suite apartment which had a patio that opened to the beach. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. We even had 24 hour access to butler service. The gym was good with state of the art cardio equipment. The champagne toast at 6pm was great. The pool grounds clean and relaxing. The only areas of improvement would be the food. We ordered room service and the baked chicken was really salty. The breakfast was really good but very expensive. The humidity is very thick which gave the room a damp feeling; especially, in the bed. Overall, we would come back to Puerto Rico and for sure stay at the St Regis.
