"Communication with the owner, Francis, was the best part: he was prompt and helpful in responding, flexible in his requirements, and very generous in helping us manage plans for an impending nor’easter bearing down on the island with diminishing options for getting to the mainland. The house was charming and very comfortable- we did not use the second building which looked to be set up for kids (eg bunk beds), and the location peaceful and had easy access to the beach. Madaket is not as “crazy” as the town of Nantucket, even in September. I strongly recommend this house … as long as you don’t take the weeks I want in 2027 "

"If you’re looking for the quintessential Nantucket cottage this is it! The place is lovely! The property is just beautiful, the bed linens are 5 star and house comes equipped with anything you could possibly need. Morgan was super friendly and very accommodating! Can’t wait to return to Nantucket and stay at this lil gem again."

"This is a very special place. You won’t find an upscale, modern cottage- but in keeping with the 1957 theme, it’s perfect. We love the vintage decor and the cozy, restful vibe. The book collection is incredible. Easy 15 minute walk or a quick bike ride to beautiful Madaket beach and the wonderful Millie’s Restaurant. The house is located right on the island’s extensive bike path system so you have easy access to town if you’re biking. Bartlett’s Oceanview Farm, Cisco Beach, and Cisco Brewery are must-sees!This was our second stay at the 1957 House and we’ll definitely visit again. RIP John (2026) and Ellin (2022) Leggett."

"Excellent property and location. Dog friendly and everything you would need for a summer vacation in Madaket. Host was responsive and helpful and we really appreciated easy communication and clear information. The neighborhood was lovely. We would definitely rent from Mike again. Thank you for a wonderful week!"

"Lovely house, nicely appointed. Good host communication. Our one complaint was that the promised wifi internet was not available for most of our stay (and we needed it for work), and though the host diligently worked on solutions, when they proved ineffective, he didn't see fit to give a token refund for that missing amenity."
