The Llechwedd Slate Caverns are situated near the historic slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog in Gwynedd, north-west Wales. It’s an interactive museum-meets-adventure haven that will appeal to all ages. As well as the world-renowned Victorian mine, there are also biking tracks, zip lines and a subterranean playground to explore.

This immersive historical experience demonstrates how slate was extracted and processed when the mine was at its peak in the mid to late 1800s. The museum also contains a reconstructed village, which shows how miners lived, and two railways, which allow visitors to travel into abandoned sections of the quarry.

The underground Victorian mine tour offers a fantastic insight into the lives of the miners who once worked there. Lit by multi-coloured lights that dance on the underground lakes, it’s also a visually beautiful experience.

Bounce Below, also situated in the caverns, is the world’s first-ever subterranean playground, with giant bouncy trampolines to jump around in, suspended over two vast chambers - the highest of which is 180 feet from the bottom of the cavern. The nets are connected by walkways and slides and are open to everyone, no matter what your age.

For those looking for even more excitement, Llechwedd Slate Caverns have a world-renowned zip line. The first of its kind, the Titan Zip Line has over five miles in lines and is the only four-person zip line in Europe. Reach up to 70 mph as you zoom over moor, mountain and mine in this unique, exhilarating experience.

With so much to offer, Llechwedd Slate Caverns is a justifiably popular point of interest, attracting visitors from all over the world.
