The place to stay!
Thon hotel was such a fantastic discovery. Immediately after this stay we booked the one in Alesund and can tell you that the whole chain is definitely the place to stay in Norway. Comfortable and, for what you get, also moderately priced. The place is beautifully designed with a boutique hotel vibe and if you get an ocean facing room you’ll feel like you’re floating on a ship. The whole hotel is inspired by generosity and kindness and you’ll feel the love the moment you get in. The staff was incredible, the breakfast is to die for, check out time is comfortable and even their special secret candy is the best I ever tasted. Highly recommended.

There is only one restaurant serving buffet on Sunday night. Better go back to town for dinner and avoid the buffet.

Room was clean but a bit bizarre - literally sleeping in an old warehouse with bare pipe work and rough beams. Staying ground floor with just a front door to outside - no option to open a window for fresh air and obviously couldn’t leave the door open all night!

Our favorite stay in our three week vacation
Great old hotel made very modern. Outstanding in every way. location on the waterfront, near the free ferry to visit three of the other islands. Wonderful breakfast. Our room was overlooking the water and with all the windows made it feel as if we were on a cruise ship.

A little bit out of the town center, but close to the free ferry shuttle. Nice views of the town and the harbor. An excellent breakfast spread, like all Thon hotels.

This Thon hotel is a gem, with its beautiful dining room looking out over the water, the well-equipped rooms, and the best-quality breakfasts we have had in Scandinavia. The staff was particularly friendly, and the hotel's proximity to the little ferries that carry passengers to the city center makes the stay very convenient. The terrific espresso machine in the lobby, where travelers can partake of a cozy afternoon coffee was also a welcome respite. Great hotel and great chain!

We enjoyed our stay here very much. Our room was fairly small, but the incredible view over the water towards the other islands of Kristiansund really made up for that. I would recommend coming here if you have your own transportation as there are plenty of parking spaces on the property but it isn't easy to get to the town centre on foot. The Sundbaten ferries are very convenient to cross the harbour to downtown, however you should check their schedules before you plan a trip. Also, note that they don't operate on Sundays and bank holidays.

Dissapointing
Dissapointing stay. Check-in was OK. Room was spacious enough but not as big as advertised. Bathroom was a disaster (tiny, water everywhere when showering, cold floor, cool water in shower etc). Breakfast was also very dissapointing. When we arrived most of the items were empty. No bread. No bacon. No eggs. After asking several times for bread some arrived. This was still frozen in the middle. Won't be staying at any Thon Hotel again for a long time.

Lovely stay in old Brygge
It is a lovely hotel in Kristiansund, an old fishing building turned into hotel with magnificent view. We originally got a room on the 1st floor but it was no problem to be moved to 4th floor, the staff was very helpful and definitely a better room and view. The breakfast was a bit disappointing but that is due to corona limitations and limited choice. Were a bit disappointed that the hotel restaurant is closed on weekends. It is located out of the city center but on Saturday we got a free ride with ferry-train (Sunbaten - Kristiansund is proud of as it operates longer then the trams in San Francisco).

Quiet cozy room on the water
Fun place to stay. Our room was right on the water, you could hear the water as boats passed. You are in a neighborhood so not a lot to do within walking distance. The neighborhood restaurant was very good. We walked half way over the bridge to take photos. Parking was good. Breakfast was excellent. Dining room overlooks the water, so a beautiful place to sit and enjoy. Staff was very nice and helpful. You can see that you are in an old warehouse by the beams but all the modern comforts of home.

Great property. An old waterside warehouse converted into a hotel. Nicely done. Rooms aren't huge but big enough. It's only nit-picking but the small table had a large reading lamp which just compromised the room size. That small issue aside everything about this place, staff, service, bed, was perfect

Hotel across the bay
We found this hotel really hard to find. Kristiansund is on several islands, and if we had known the name of the one we wanted, that would have been fine. Once we got there, we found it to be in a calm part of the town. The old town is there, being the only part of the city not destroyed in WW2. An easy stroll from the hotel lets you see all the old buildings. The hotel is a converted historic warehouse, with a modern section attached. We were in the old part with low ceilings and exposed beams. It was very hot, and there is no air con, but it cooled a bit with open windows. Staff were excellent, and very efficient when there was a fire alarm. They also told us when bus tours had booked breakfast and dinner, so we could avoid those times. Beds were much too soft, I slept on the floor one night as my back was sore.

Welcoming and friendly staff.
Enjoyed an overnight stop at this modern hotel located on the water's edge. Only downside it is a little outside the town centre over the bridge or accessible by ferry.

Very Good, with some caveats
First, the not so good- The carpet was horribly worn in the hallways and the walls were scuffed, the breakfast was cold, dried out, and poorly cooked (burnt). The good- the room was spacious and the view of the water amazing. The deck was lovely. There was a huge selection of food and beverages at breakfast, though some of it not good quality. All in all, we would likely stay here again.
