"We had a lovely stay at the Old Schoolhouse. Our room and bathroom were spacious. Our hosts had homemade treats for us each day (an oatmeal raisin cookie our first day and a piece of spice cake the next). Our breakfast was at a large table with the other guests. We loved talking to them, several of whom were walking the length of Hadrian's wall. The breakfast itself was delicious and generous. We would absolutely stay here again."

"A lovely stay! Nice modern cottage with added bonus of sauna. The location was good for sightseeing base Took advantage of the spa which was very nice but pricey @£95 per person which was just for the use of the facilities We also enjoyed the tasting menu which was very good! Just would like to suggest that an information manual in the cottage’s to help with heating, cooking etc"

"Receptionist / manageress was polite and cheerful and explained everything to us about our stay . Bedroom and bathroom was spacious and spotless . Breakfast was ample in both continental and full English and was well represented and extremely tasty esp the sausage . "Lovely and comfortable one night stay with a delicious breakfast. One star deducted as one of our rooms had a leak from the toilet which resulted in a very wet floor around the sink area. We didn't eat dinner at the pub as we were following up on a recommendation for The Duke of Cumberland in the next village, but we did pop in for drinks afterwards and enjoyed a quiz the barmaid had organised. It was also nice to see some local youths playing darts and enjoying themselves in the pub - it's rare to see 'kids' out these days and they were very polite too. All in all a lovely area and I'd consider going back in warmer weather to do some of the local walks."

"We had an overnight stay here, with our dog, in room 2. It is a garden room accessed externally via the carpark and small private decked area (seating provided). The room was comfortable and clean. Shower pressure wasn't brilliant, but for an overnight stay, it serficed. The hairdryer provided wasn't very powerful either, so took a long time to dry long hair. Basic tea and coffee making facilities were provided, but you'll need to take your own biscuits if you like having a snack with your brew! Booking in was straightforward and staff were both friendly and helpful. The inn itself is very welcoming with a dining area for breakfast and evening meals, and a comfortable bar area. Staff serving food and drinks were friendly, helpful and attentive. We would highly recommend the food - freshly cooked, beautifully presented and tasted fantastic! We had both our evening meal and breakfast here and enjoyed it all. The inn is easily accessible and quiet, serving both the guests and the owners of residential static caravans on site. There are also historical ruins adjoining the inn which were interesting to look at and read about if you enjoy a touch of history!"
