The atmosphere was amazing! Sitting by the Tweed & listening to the flow of the river & the songs of the birds was so relaxing!
Breakfast was also fabulous!
Beautiful country house hotel with exceptional staff. Good central location for exploring the Borders. We had a great stay and look forward to a return visit.
I had an accesable room which was brilliant. Everything was to hand and it was so comfortable and cosy as well as being very clean. The wet room made such a difference and was very large. I loved being able to open the windows. The views were amazing and I was able to sit on a bench and watch the Tweed roll by. A visit to Dryburgh Abbey was lovely with lots of seating areas. The staff were wonderful and anything I asked for was never a problem. The food was wonderfull too.
Absolutely wonderful property. Great vibe that makes you feel like you’re going back in time. Dinner in the restaurant was fantastic, if you don’t mind a few canine guests as well. Our top floor room looked over the river and was very peaceful and quiet. Comfortable big room very clean with an excellent staff. The Abbey ruins are just a few yards away right across the parking lot. Just love this place and hope to get to return someday.
Awesome building in spectacular surroundings, interior was just as breathtaking as outside 😍. Staff were great and food was outstanding 👌.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room a good size. The food was good without being exceptional.
The hotel is a little tired and dated but we were very happy and their attitude to dogs being indoors was first class.
We will be back I’m sure.
The staff were fantastic, room huge and the evening meal and breakfast were delicious. Lovely grounds for an evening stroll. We were walking St.Cuthbert’s Way and left the car there for five days which was ideal
Set in such a tranquil, peaceful setting by the abbey and river, the hotel has ample parking and is a great place to relax and take long walks.
The staff were friendly and courteous.
It was nice to find a hotel offering vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options for meals. The breakfast was delicious.
Quiet riverside location and convenient for exploring the area around Melrose. Grand old building with plenty of character. Great breakfast with fine views and tasty food
This is a splendid old house, bang next to Dryburgh Abbey, which is a magical place. The hotel has character, the staff are lovely, and the rooms large, if a little old-fashioned. The bed was very comfortable. Only the food in the restaurant-bar was slightly disappointing, particularly as one of us is vegetarian, which made the choice very limited. We would still love to return.
Fantastic location with 11 acres, river in grounds and Abbey ruins next door.
Had dinner in restaurant which was excellent as was breakfast the next day. Used as a stop off for one night from Aberdeenshire to the midlands and same price as well known hotel chains. An issue with bed on arrival but sorted out by receptionist promptly.
Good size room with a private bathroom and a lovely view. Free parking and access to the River Tweed for Trout fishing. Excellent evening meal and conscientious staff. Plenty of choice for a continental breakfast and a selection of cooked breakfast options. Very pleasant surroundings and with access to Dryburgh Abbey ruins albeit for an admission fee. You can walk along the river Tweed by walking out of the main gates and turning left to enjoy a circular walk. Would definitely recommend a visit to this lovely hotel and its surroundings, it is very peaceful and tranquil!

Excellent surroundings! Interior in need of some tlc.
Lovely location, very friendly staff, great food and a comfortable stay. The property is a gem in the rough - the common areas present beautifully but the room was a bit tired (but still very comfy)
I would have expected a bit more of this hotel. The rooms vary quite a bit in terms how well maintained they are. Furniture can be worn a bit. The staff is largely made up of young local boys and girls. They are super friendly and very attentive. Despite being more or less on a holiday job they are very professional and rather sweet. The site of the hotel is wonderful and very quiet. Guest who travel over the summer should know though that there is no airconditioning and that windows cannot really be opened.
