The property itself is beautiful and the staff is mostly nice and helpful. My kids really enjoyed being here and liked the pools that were open. Seeing the few Disney characters around was fun too. But don’t expect to see more then one or two a day and you have to pay for a cast member meal to see take pictures with them. They also repeat the characters and shows everyday so if you go more than twice you won’t see anything or anyone new. The hotel is way over crowded there are people literally everywhere. Most of the guests staying here are from Japan and it’s very overwhelming when you try to go into the gift shop or a pool or food establishment as there are just soooo many people everywhere. We went in the “off season “ too and it was still like this. I can’t imagine how bad it is in peek season. The food and prices are where I started to have a huge problem. My family and I love eating food, good healthy real food. You will not find that here. The food is horrible and it is very very over priced 3-4x more then you would spend anywhere else. (Example a kids hot dog with fries was $22 it was served hard and cold) My family and I ate all of our meals here for the first few days of our trip until we got food poisoning and then we refused to eat the over priced shitty food after this horrible experience. This made things hard as this place is in the middle of no where and getting other food options means a drive about 30 min away. This place feels nothing like real Hawaii.

Aulani is great! Unfortunately, the property was undergoing renovation during our stay. We were notified ahead of time except the notification was not accurate. The Menehune Bridge was not listed as being closed during our stay but we found out at Check-In that it was closed. This was a real bummer since we decided that we were ok with the big pool closures since our son wasn't going to take advantage of them and the amenities that were meant for kids were supposed to be open. In addition, when they said they were closing attractions for 'maintenance', they did not state anywhere that it was legit jackammering all day everyday. Imagine trying to relax by the pool with hawaiian music in the background suddenly being overpowered by jackhammering. Huge fail on Aulani's part! Other than that, the 'cast members' were AWESOME! Housekeeping was super friendly and accommodating.
