It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. I LOVED my stay at Kandy Hub Guest House. It's not in the city, so you'll need a car to get there as it's a bit hard to find. The distance was totally worth it to me for the views, affordability, and attentive, friendly, and helpful staff. I really enjoyed the rooftop breakfast too. The room was very clean and comfortable. The only issue I had was that the bathroom had some webs and a spider when I came in. The employee I spoke with was very receptive when I asked him to help me remove them, and I think that this should be an easy problem for them to fix in advance in the future. One thing to be aware of: Because the place is in nature, there are some animal noises that can wake you up early in the morning. This wasn't an issue for me because I had to be up early anyway, and it was part of the experience of being in such a special location.
