"The hotel is currently under major construction, making it difficult to give a full rating. The bed was comfortable, and while the room was very small, it worked for sleeping and showering. The bathroom lighting is very dim, making it difficult to apply makeup or do hair. Breakfast is available for $10 but is not included and requires a ticket; the attendant is very strict about this. Parking is $30 per day in a garage that is somewhat in disarray due to construction. A major plus is that although checkout is at 11:00 AM, garage access is allowed until 11:59 PM, which was very helpful. We were in town for the Lone Star Regional Volleyball tournament at the convention center, and with Sunday game times being TBA, the extended parking access added convenience. The rail train is located across the street, but there is significant walking between connections. While inexpensive (about $1.25 per person per ride), it can be confusing and frustrating if you’re unfamiliar with the city. We found Uber/Lyft to be a more convenient option."

"Booking this hotel I had high expectations since at other AC hotels I had an amazing experience. However, this property was a bit different. This hotel is located downtown Houston so please be aware of the many homeless people hanging around. Checking in was breeze everyone at the front desk was friendly and helpful. After checking in we decided to grab a drink at the hotel's bar and the bartender there was extremely rude. Questioning why we were asking questions about drink ingredients and overall being rude and unprofessional. Needless to say we never returned to the bar our entire stay. The hotel room was okay smaller than expected. The bed was really soft. The housekeeping staff were really friendly and helpful. Having a Starbucks on the property was a plus for us unfortunately one day of our stay they had to shutdown due system failure. My only suggestion is to train the staff on customer service and professionalism. Myself among other visitors wasn't pleased with the unpleasant service we received for the price we had paid."

"No refrigerator, no hairdryer, no ice machine! There was a wrapper on the floor. If housekeeping didn’t notice or pickup the wrapper what else didn’t they do? The A/C never went below 70. We like it COLD! One of the cards for our room didn’t work. If one of these was the only issue I wouldn’t be leaving a negative review! "

"Staff was fantastic! From the front desk to the valet and housekeeping. Everyone was so helpful and personable. Great location; close to everything we wanted to see. Good restaurant choices near by. We enjoyed the Bayou as well. This will be one of our go to hotels. On another note: Houston needs to provide some services for the unhoused population in downtown areas though. It was heartbreaking to see some many ppl suffering in the midst of"
