"No microwaves in the room. Ice and vending (and microwaves) every other floor. Beds were great. Nice restaurant."

"None of the elevators in the parking deck work, there is no option for stairs. So imagine me and my daughter going to each elevator with my luggage thinking “oh maybe it’s just one elevator” no it was all elevators. My daughter and I had to walk out of the parking deck, up a small hill and a short street/drive through that’s used for checking in and out. We were not informed that the elevator or the security automatic gate arms did not work. I think this is something that needed to be said along with the price when the staff asked was we parking a vehicle on the property and how much it would be. I found this to be a safety risk for anyone who had to access the parking deck at night. Also it’s two separate building the building with the lobby is nicer and I do believe that’s side and the rooms on that side is the photos used for advertising. I booked thinking I was staying in a nice hotel for my graduation trip only to be sadly mistaken."

"Check-in experience was unprofessional and didn’t include any basic guidance (review of amenities, check-out time, etc.) let alone the amenity credit I was supposed to receive. The first room I was given had a broken AC. I called multiple times to get it fixed but ultimately had to go downstairs and demand being reassigned to a room with a functioning AC. The second room we were assigned had a functioning AC, but the temperature never made it to what it was assigned. The lighting panel in the room also didn’t function, but the lights would work if you turned on individually. Not sure why it’s there if it doesn’t work. The hotel is otherwise conveniently located, historic, and the amenities are newly remodeled. I’ve stayed at DC hotels with much better service and responsiveness. If you decide to stay, consider doing so in a cooler month given the AC issues."

"I absolutely love the Salamander. For the past two years, every trip to the DMV area requires a stay there. I love the cleanliness of the rooms are comfort of the beds. For the most part, the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. However, during my most recent stay I requested an amenity for my bath via the test messaging service and never received it. I’m not sure if this was a technology issue or if someone simply dropped the ball. Nevertheless, from now on I will call the front desk with any requests rather than utilize the text messaging service."

"The staff was excellent and attentive to all our needs. It is a plus that they give you some complimentary water bottles but we requested more and they came with more water right away! The mini kitchen is well equipped with plates, and glasses and cups. A toaster and a coffee machine excellent choices. Big fridge and the gas stove to cook our foods was a must!"
