Do you have any tips for my flight to Venice?
- First things first, pack your passport, official ID, wallet and vital medications. Next, you'll want some extra in-flight entertainment to help pass the time. A thrilling novel and a phone filled with your favourite movies are good options. If you plan to take a quick nap, a neck pillow and some earplugs will also come in handy. Finally, find room for a toothbrush and some deodorant to ensure you hop off the plane looking fresh and raring to go.
- Check carefully that you don't have sharp objects (like a knife or scissors) lurking in one of the zippers of your carry-on luggage. Other banned items include explosive or flammable products, such as fuel and fireworks, and gels and liquids in containers with a volume of more than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres).
- Go for comfort over style. Prepare for temperature changes in the cabin by wearing layers, and pick slightly roomy, flat footwear like sneakers.
- Most travellers are aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. To reduce your risk on board, stay hydrated, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your legs and feet often.
How to get through airport security fast when flying to Venice?
- Your travel documents and passport will need to be inspected by airport security personnel. Have them close by so you don't have to dig around for them.
- The X-ray machine comes next. Remove anything metal on you that is likely to set off the alarm. This includes things like headphones or earphones, as well as heavy jackets or coats. They'll need to be placed on the conveyor belt for screening.
- Electronic devices like phones and laptops will also have to go through the machine to be scanned. Don't worry though, you'll be back online before you know it.
- Remember to remove gels and liquids from your hand luggage. They usually need to be sent through the X-ray scanner separately. Each item should be in a container no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 millilitres) and everything must fit inside a single quart-size (one litre), clear zip-close bag.
- Choosing your footwear wisely can save you several minutes. Boots and bulky shoes are often required to be removed and X-rayed separately. Lightweight sneakers usually aren't.
- Airlines will not allow any sharp objects in your carry-on luggage. If you must bring these kinds of items, put them in your checked luggage.

Best time to travel to Venice
Peak Season:
The weather in June through to September is beautifully warm, making it an ideal time for tourists to enjoy one of the many local events. For instance, the Sagra di San Pietro di Castello in June, Festa della Redentore in July, the Regata di Pellestrina in August, and the Venice Film Festival in September. As tourists flood the city during these months, inexpensive flights to Venice can be difficult to find unless you book in advance.
Shoulder Season:
From March to November the climate in Venice can be rather dark, damp and crisp. Although many tourists prefer to stay out of the city at this time, many others enjoy the romantic ambiance that is set by the autumn weather. If you enjoy this particular atmosphere, this is an excellent time to take a quiet walk along the Zattere boardwalk, explore the Ca' Rezzonico, or view the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari church.
Off Season:
Flights are at their most inexpensive in April, May, and October. Crowds are thin, and the weather is breezy and mild. Considering the weather and the increase in leg room, this is a marvellous time to take a Vaporetto ride through the Grand Canal or mingle with the locals at the Casinò di Venezia.
