"Hotel Essener Hof is very close to the Essen rail station. It has historic charm, with some drawbacks. Many rooms have no air conditioning - you must make a special request for an air-conditioned room, after booking on a third party site. Many rooms are on hallways that have steps to climb from the lift. Staff are friendly and helpful. The bar and restaurant are closed; breakfast is a buffet with many traditional German food choices."
