Friendly staff, good breakfast. The extra bed was extremely uncomfortable; they promised a thicker mattress but never provided one. No air conditioning.

The hotel is in a convenient spot, in one direction is town quite quiant and in the opposite direction is the beach. I looking around and close by are some more beaches in different directions and I have to go exploring. A nice peaceful quiet stay and a cute little food festival has popped up. I might some of the culinary delights the sweets looked huge, I will try one of everything and walk miles!

The room was spacious but dated. Everything worked but was worn. The bed was 2 bed frames stuck together with a king size mattress on top. Firm sleep - not the most comfortable. Quiet property and the man running it was nice and helpful. It was cheap and cheerful and suited me ok, but would not take my wife. Location is great. 1 block from the beach and a short walk from the town centre. Overall happy with the visit.

Amazing value. I can’t believe it was that cheap to be honest. Was expecting a bit of a dive but it was really pleasant. Comfy bed, good shower. Staff were very accommodating. Had a small issue with the toilet cistern not refilling in the first room, got moved straight away to an even better room. Can’t fault any of it. Nice little stay

The staff are lovely and warm the hotel is very pleasant and convenient to the shops, beach everything you need. The hotel does not stick out and in a way this is ideal because you privacy. And the seagulls do not send you up the wall outside on the street and near your window. The traffic is less about 90% and you can breathe fresh air actually. Walking and sught seeing are expetional and being close to the theatre and conference centre, galleries imakes the hotel attractive. And the decor, furnishings are quite pretty sultle not standing out. I feel nice and happy, relaxed apart from the weather. Remember to bring your coat, hat, gloves, and wellies, car, umbrella as well as sun cream Do not attempt to swim because the water is very cold Remember the festival is on the week end, this week end and there is the bank holiday on Monday Come and see for yourself

Great option in Eastbourne

Great b&b option in Eastbourne. Roy was absolutely fantastic with the communication and the room was perfect for a weekend stay. Close to the seafront and very quiet.

Very clean, tasteful decor. However, breakfast was disorganised. Miscommunication with order (although we were never asked/ordered), Brought strange, half-hearted breakfast with two overcooked eggs, hash brown and beef sausages - and we are vegetarian! No tomatoes, mushrooms, beans. Very dry. They didn’t seem to know what they were doing and hardly spoke any English. No butter or spread - had to ask for. Had to boil own kettle for tea (self service) and only cheap instant coffee. Didn’t know what porridge was!! Bran flakes already in bowl and were soft snd stale. Overheard the staff arguing in the kitchen. Reminded us of Fawlty Towers!! Quite comical really. Pleasant, smiley staff but clueless. Wondering if they have just taken over the hotel and learning the ropes? Very green. The shower door dangerous and completely came off rails! Fell on me! Only one tiny window opened in small stuffy room with one small fan which really didn’t cut it! One bath towel and two hand towels shared between 3 people?! Bed lumpy and sank in the middle. Daughter did not sleep well. Reasonably priced - so I guess you get what you pay for!! You live and learn!

I stayed at the Mowbray to see the Sussex Coast and Kent. The hotel proved to be a great choice. My room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. I had an easy walk to Eastbourne’s board walk, great local places to eat and a nice building btw.

Ideally located for eating out and sea front strolls. Basic hotel , easy parking, good breakfast however the housekeeping in the rooms could be improved especially in the bathrooms, toilet brush disgraceful !! . Blinds also thick in dust and tv unwatchable as signal kept going.

It’s very old fashion hotel, which I have prepared for that. The condition of the property is worst than I expect. The size of room is just like London. You probably could find something better if you book advance somewhere else in Eastbourne.

Problems with a parking space. Misunderstanding of the system with breakfast. There is no drinking water in the room. If any drink is left cold in the evening, it will be hot in the morning. The lack of a refrigerator, and the heat, are definitely tests. The room is hot, there is a poorly working fan. The shower cabin is not complete. Of the 2 doors, there is only one. Switch water and shower modes, periodically fail. On the positive side: cleanliness and order, cleaning in the rooms. Coffee is very tasty in the room.

Very disappointed. Wouldn’t recommend.

The location was great but that is the only good thing about The Mowbray. As soon as we entered the lobby there was a damp smell. No one to greet you or help with your bags etc. The bed was horrible, it was uncomfortable and the two mattresses that made up a double, constantly came apart with a sheet that didn’t fit properly. The duvet came out of the cover too. The room and bedding smelt of damp and the shower was dirty and mouldy. Glad we only stopped for the one night. We didn’t have breakfast, so can’t comment on that. If you find it difficult mobility wise, there are big steps up to the property and although there is a lift to the rooms, I’m not sure it went down to where the breakfast was being served and there were lots of steps down to it. I would not recommend The Mowbray and for the money I would have expected a lot more.

I will just say that I found blood stains on my bed linen and duvet cover. Also the room smells unbelievably terrible, even worse than the bathroom, to the point that I have to leave the window open throughout the night. Fortunately it was still September and I only have to stay one night at this hotel. Other than that, the table is sticky and lots of stains on the window. No hotel staff on site, instead "a friend" checked me in by showing me the passcodes of the doors and asked me to take pictures. Worst hotel stay experience ever.
