Only after contacting Travelnest (the third company in charge of advertising the property) by phone on the day of check-in, I got a very short email from the owner about the check-in time (an hour later than advertised) and code for the key box. No apologies, not even his/her...
"This is a great and charming hotel. It looks a bit dated in the outside, but the facilities are great, specially the spa and food services. The town is small with great views of cliffs if you walk to the west. Lots of little shopping. The beach isn’t a plus as it’s rocky, but hotel has nice swimming options."

The shepherd's hut is cleverly and beautifully converted, clean and cosy and equipped with everything you need. We cooked, sat by the fire, and slept like logs in the comfortable bed.Booking, check-in and check-out were all easy and free of fuss, and Will responded promptly to the couple of questions we had.We visited Sidmouth, Beer and Lyme Regis during our 3-night stay; but frankly would have been just as happy to sit with our books and the sound of the birds, doing nothing!
