The Royal Hotel

"Very centrally located hotel. Welcoming and friendly staff. Room was clean, stocked with everything needed (including 2 fans which were especially appreciated!) and very light and bright. They were a bit tired looking in some places but that was very minor. Breakfast was ok, The breakfast room was big and nicely decorated, it wasn't busy when we went but if it did get busy i could imagine it been quite tight with space as there were a lot of tables. Good quality food. On Saturday morning the replenishment was poor which meant a longer wait and some items were cold, I had to ask for 3 different food to be replenished, neither the chef or staff checked they just responded to my request. On Sunday however it was very different and the food was constantly checked and all was available. Overall a nice hotel, well worth the money and would definitely stay again."

"Staff in reception were friendly and helpful. I was disappointed that on hotels.com there wasn't much said about the opening days of the roof terrace yet had mentioned the terrace so assumed we couldn use it. On arrival we found out it was shut Monday & Tuesday we also found out that you need to book well in all to get a table on the terrace & without a booking you cannot go up to the terrace. The room was great as well as the breakfast.the hotel itself walking distance to station & city centre"

"Used hotel to sleep at night as was out most of the day shopping and trips by train. Beautiful scenery as had beech opposite hotel and a tram to take up and down from the beach."

"Amazing place to stay excellent.friendly staff very helpful also the sauna,steam room and pool and gym a added bonus. The grounds was superb good value for money has a frequent visitor to York will def go back to Milner.so many diffrent places to sit and relax. Amazing,Amazing breakfast 10/10 x"
