Booked deluxe room with breakfast, got the room on 25th floor with view to 'the World' which was absolutely amazing. Super comfortable king size bed, the room was super big and had everything we needed.
The staff was amazing, super helpful and very friendly.
Oh, and the food was just great! So much to choose from, and very tasty.
Also, used the gym facilities and I can say that it was a good one too.
The swimming pool on 47th floor was nice and water was very warm, didn't want to get out! A bit windy on the top floor but it paid off as it had a nice view to Burj Khalifa (which is 1mile away, about 5mins on the car) and the city.
very conveniently located hotel and valet staff was very lovely.
Definitely recommend this to anyone!!

Travelling to unfamiliar surroundings normally makes us consider a hotel chain we are familiar with but with Dubai having so many 4 and 5 star hotels I took the opportunity to break from the norm and try a different type of hotel.
The Shangri-La is both welcoming and very high quality. Well proportioned on 42 floors it offers all the amenities you would expect from a 5 star hotel. From the doorman to the front desk team, concierge, restaurant staff and even the staff preparing rooms you are treated with pleasant courteousness. You are made to feel at home with nothing being too much trouble.
The same goes for the airport staff, the exhibition staff( I was taking part in an exhibition in Dubai) and even the taxi drivers.
My only issue in Dubai outside our hotel was the lack of Wi-Fi. There is limited wifi at Dubai International Airport and likewise at the World Trade Centre Exhibition Centre. You have the option to pay for wifi or buy a 4G local sim. Personally living in a town in Ireland of less than 20000 people where there is free wifi provided by the town council in the town centre it is difficult to understand why this is not free in Dubai.
That aside we also took the opportunity to go on the desert safari which was a great experience with a thrilling race across the sand dunes in Toyota land cruisers before a short ride on camels, excellent food in a desert camp and fantastic belly dancing. The entertainment came as much from our fellow passengers as the dancers!
I took my family of four for the Christmas holidays. Some aspects of the St Regis experience was not available due to the recent opening date but the staff had the right attitude and endeavoured to make up for any lapses as quickly as possible. I would return again for a business visit to Dubai.

King size bed was just ok, one side was not comfortable as the mattress was old and over used. Overall condition of the room/bathroom was just acceptable, some improvements are due. Carpet smells, curtains need washing, bathroom smells.
Restaurant was ok, selection of food for breakfast was not bad, but for a 5 star should have more selections available.
We stayed at Millenium in Phuket (Thailand) but that one was in a much better condition.
Overall experience is not worth 5 stars.

It was unexpected stay!! All I wanted I got. The lexuary, the location, the quietness, the views, and the service.
All in one stay. More over it is so close to the Metro station. What could make it the ultimate best is the free internet if it is provided for free in the room.
